Good Morning DJsmom, my son is leaving for bootcamp on the 16th.  He is getting very anxious, and is so ready to get on with his life.

Good Morning Wendy, Yes DJ is very anxious also. Where are you from? I am from NJ. What will your son be doing in the Navy?

I am from Michigan and my son is hoping to be a para rescuer.  What will your son be doing?

Wow he doesnt have to go too far to get to BC. He is EOD (explosive ordinance disposal).

I'm from Michigan, too Wendy.  My son Derek is in Div 922 Ship 2.  His recruiter emailed the address yesterday so we can write now.

Hu DJ'S Mom I am Matt's Mom. My name is Joanne. I replied to you last week about Matt leaving on Feb 16. How are you doing? I am still trying to figure out the site. I responded to your friend request but I don't know how to acess that much yet. I would love to start a group wi everyone whose Child left on Feb 16. Most likley we will get the box this week.

.

Hi Matt's mom.  My daughter left on Feb. 15th.  I am also new on here.  Going through alot of emotional changes right now.

Dawna's Mom

those with recruits leaving in Feb...join this group for good info and to connect with Feb DEPers    http://www.navyformoms.com/group/leavinforbootcampinfebruary    also you may want to join the groups for their job and A school

My son Matt left for BC Feb 16. It was one of the hardest day of my life. I was able to go to Atlanta MEPS since we live about 20 miles away and see him being sworn in. I am a mess. We heard from him that night on the 16th about 11:30pm to tell us he got there and he is o.k. and loved us. I couldn't sleep at all that night. He is eighteen years old and graduated high school last May. I have so many worries but I know he is o.k. Of course he left his room a  mess something I used to complain to him every day to clean I can't clean it right now.  His door is closed and  I want to think he is in there playing x-box or on his computer. Thank you for the gift of this site. I joined it yesterday and it is making me feel a little better.

My Daughter left on 2/15 for BC she also just graduated last June. I had a hard time with it when she first told me it was what she wanted to then as most of her friends started leaving for college or Army BC ( she had 4 male friends go Army) I could tell she was getting lonely and sorta bumbed that everyone else was moving on so once Feb. finally came around and her mood started to get better she started running more and just looked happy agein it was then I knew this is really what she wants it made it somewhat easier to let her go.  It also helps that her cousin, my neice graduated BC in Aug. and is now in A school it is really neat to see the transformation, to see her walk alittle taller.  I know it stinks right now but it will get better, information is the key that first day would have been awful if my sister-in-law had not told me exactly what to expect enjoy the journey with him!

My son also left on this day. I took him to the recruiter's office the day before dropped him off and then met him at the hotel where the recruits were staying. I was able to take him out to dinner the night before and spend the last minutes with him at MEPS, watch him swear in and walk him to the bus that took him to the airport. It was a hard day but knowing he was at ease and confident made it a little easier. So far I am okay, only a few tears because I am very proud. I worry about him as any mom would but I also know he needs me to be strong as he makes his journey.

Well DJ arrived safely and I cant wait for the box. I cleaned up his room cause I had a party for him the Sunday before. but I had to pick it up a bit ... Made his bed, put away clean clothes I need to wash a few clothes but I figured I would wait till I got the box. if you guys could add me as a friend on here maybe we can keep in touch. who knows maybe they will end up together some how.
