GOING TO PIR (GRADUATION).
You will have many questions regarding PIR. Where to stay? When to get airline tickets? What to do around Great Lakes? How to order photos, dvds? How do I sign up for the multiple meet and greets for parents? What should I wear? Join this group - PIR REFERENCE INFORMATION GROUP (clickable link). You'll benefit from the information from others who have made this journey. There will be very few experiences like this in life - enjoy it. Be proud of your recruit.
Survival Guide for Navy For Moms Newbies - keep this link handy.
You'll find an overview of the entire process. You should also watch the videos, look at the diagram of the barracks (ships), review the powerpoint presentations.
Important Groups For You To Join
NavyDEP.COM (created exclusively for the recruits only - run by Craig).
Moms/dads/wives/gfs, lurk in this group if you want but do not join.
After graduation, many of the groups edit the title of the group to reflect status by adding "Alumni" or "Graduates" etc. The links stay the same and should work. A great place to stay in touch with the people you became acquainted with through bootcamp & PIR.

Once he gets to the RTC, you wll get a letter from him that will tell you. That is the only guaranteed way to know. His PIR could be 10/21, 10/28, or 11/04 depending on when groups form. You will just have to wait and see.
I know there are a number of small group for specific ship/division within a PIR date group. I think it would be easier to have them as "discussions" under the main PIR group. Of course, it's a free country. Do what you feel comfortable. Regardless, good luck to all recruits and a warm welcome to all parents, wives, fiancees, gfs. Besure to look at the info contained within this discussion.
hi, I believe my granddaughter's PIR is July 22 also. I recieved her box yesterday. I haven't recieved the letter. She arrived at bootcamp on May 25th. I recieved the call, that she had made it and she would call again, in three weeks.
I don't know why BQB started putting "Ship" in the listings. The listing for June 17 should be as follows:
TG 31 — 9 Divisions (203–210 & 931) Graduate Friday, June 17, 2011
This is interpreted as: Training Group 31 has 9 divisions (203, 204, 205, 206, 207, 208, 209, 210, & 931) and will graduate on Friday, June 17, 2011.
So division 204 is represented within the group, PIR 06/17/2011 and BQB only lists the first group for a PIR date. There is a Discussion, Ship 11 Div. 204, within that group. I also see that you are a member of the separate group for the division, Ship 11 Div. 204, and that is probably what you are referring to. Some of us believe that Divisions should start Discussions within the main PIR group and thus limit the number of groups being formed.
I can't remember why I did that either. I should probably take out the "ship" si?
OK. DONE! YOU GUYS ARE SOOOO GOOD. :)
Thanks so much for clearing that up. I was really confused by the "ship" (or lack there-of). I thought it was just me......=/
