For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hello everyone! I am Vee and my grandson is proudly serving our country in the U.S. Navy stationed at Great Lakes. He joined the Navy on November 12, 2008, and has been at Great Lakes since that date. He graduated boot camp (PIR) on January 9, 2009 and moved that same afternoon to the A-School side of the base where he began his INDOC. After his INDOC, he then worked on his PHASE 2. Completion of PHASE 2 allowed him to wear civies off base and have weekend liberty when he doesn't have duty. He then started SCC School (Surface Common Corps) which I believe was about 12 school days in duration. From completion of SCC, he went on hold for his ATT School (Apprentice Technical Training) and has been on hold for 56 days as of today. During this hold time, he did request a leave and was granted it to come home for 10 days. He has been on 3 different "ships" (barracks) on the A school side. I have omitted some details which I know others will fill in as they post on here.

Vee, did he live within the 300 mile radius or did he get permission to go a further distance? I would just love to have Chris be able to come home for a few days! He is currently in SCC and I guess once he completes that we will know what kind of delay he faces for ATT. His PIR date was August 7th so I guess they are moving along a little quicker than they have been. He is now on his second ship as well.

Hi Robin, I am so sorry I just discovered your reply of August 25th. No, Michael was not within the 300 mile radius; he put a chit in for a leave as he had about 12+ days on the books. Chris may or may not have an idea how long a hold he is faced with for ATT. Since you live in Florida, he will have to request a leave. If the hold times are getting shorter, having a leave granted might not be an option. And, a lot of the sailors like to save their leave for after completion of A School to take it before they get their first duty station. That is something to consider. Hi all, I need to make a correction to my above post of June 28, 2009. After Michael completed SCC which was approximately 12 school days long, he went on a short hold until he classed up for ATT School. I believe his hold time was approximately 2-3 weeks. His hold time inbetween completion of ATT School and classing up for GM A School was 67 calendar days. He was NOT on hold 56 days between SCC and ATT. Sorry about that boo boo; I must have been half asleep when I typed it....

Thank you! I am originally from Los Angeles, California but right now I am stationed in Great Lakes at the "A" School. Been on two destroyers and 1 deployment. Getting transferred soon to San Diego.

I bet you will be glad to be back in California...I grew up in the Los Angeles basin, but am not living up in the high desert (Bishop area). Best of luck to you; are you going to make it a career? Michael is finishing up his 2nd week of C school in San Diego now. In June he will be reporting to his ship in Hawaii. You take care and stay in touch....Vee
