After being part of the DEP for a year, she finally got to swear in and ship out, She arrived in Great Lakes on Tuesday evening, last night (Thursday) she called. She has been put in segregation and told she will be discharged. She was diagnosed with depression as a young teen (who isnt these days) She told her recruiter who informed her that since it was before she was 18, and since she wasnt being treated now, it didnt matter. She is heartbroke, this was her dream, she NEVER would have been deceitful on purpose, she trusted him. I dont know how to help, Is there any hope?! What is the process? I feel so terrible for her just sitting there!!

How is she doing now

She is holding up. We got to pick her up late last week. She is whole physically, but completely broken. She just isnt sure what to do, or how to feel. (and we arent sure how to help)

Could you please tell me if you got anywhere with your daughter? My son is in the exact same boat right now. His father died when he was 10y/o and went through therapists. He was discharged from treatment and now the Navy is saying he is depressed and is sending him home. I am so heartbroken!! My son wanted to make a positive and life long change for himself and he is being denied! PLEASE help with any information you can give me!

I am so sorry to tell you that we did not have a positive outcome. I went all the way up to contacting our Congresswoman, but "rules are rules". I was told that the recruiter would get disciplined, but they would not be able to tell me how severely( so my guess is he probably wasn't) We are still hurting for our daughter. She too had a pretty rough time when she was younger, experienced a lot of pain and terrible that you never wish a child to know. This was her chance, her way out. She now is sitting around with no drive and no direction, and we are at a loss on how to help.

I will tell you that there are certain discharge ratings and if he really wants he can try again. There is only one rating that prevents you from reenlisting and if he receives that (which is possible if he "lied" and "defrauded" ..but if they caught him in basic training most likely he will still be given a lower rating....Anyhows, if he gets the worst rating he can file after a certain timeframe and a bunch of paperwork to have it lowered..if he gets a lower rating he can get papers from his therapist releasing him from care and stating he is fully stable and able to serve....its a huge process of papers and appointments, but its possible.

Sadly after her time in separation, and hearing/seeing the worst the Navy has to offer, my daughter wasnt interested.

This is my concern for my son. This too was/is his dream. He seemed to have no direction and he thought that this was his way to get there. He made a decision to join on his own and I was/am so proud of him. This truly is a travesty! I feel for you and your daughter. It takes a lot to get to the point to where you want to serve your country especially in todays society. Hugs to you and your daughter!

I was told last week that my grandson was put into separation as well. I called his recruiter and looking for help. I was told that he just isn't going to graudate on time. He has new graduation date. Does anyone know if this true or not? Should I be worried?

What is her name? My daughter is there too :( its heartbreaking!
