I order my boxes off USPS and they send them straight to my house. I also order the customs forms, they are all free. I buy my own tape. I use a lot of it and what they give usually isn't enough. It costs $12.50 to mail and I usually have them stuffed. I make a small tear in the packages if they have a ziploc and squeeze the air out and then zip them up. It takes less room and I can add more.

And take as much stuff out of the packaging that you can. It takes up more space and it's less they have to dispose of.

When my son first got to San Diego, I had to mail him the tag for his car and I overnighted it but the post office couldn't guarantee that it would be next day but said it would be within 5 and it took 3 weeks. I had the post office trace it and it went to San Francisco and that was the end of it. They did a further investigation and San Francisco is a hub for military mail. Once it was there, the post office couldn't trace it. It was in military hands then. The next time I mailed, it took 3 days and then the next time, I got them returned to sender, insufficient address. Never did find out the reason for that. Since then he has gotten everything I have sent. My post office is awesome, if I need anything they help out. but of course where I live everybody knows everybody and if you run to the post office it's going to take at least 30 minutes cuz someone has to stop and talk. lol

Yeah, they aren't far enough for it to take weeks and weeks...eventullay they will grow farther and farter and be a day ahead....or whatever...so mail will take longer.
Comment by navywife1126 on August 9, 2010 at 8:15pm
Well, once they actually deploy...and get really far...I am pretty sure it'll take 2-3 weeks...
