My son is leaving in a week for BC. He has 27 weeks of A school in Great Lakes. I can't find a lot of information for reservists. I don't know what happens after A school. Does he just come home? He may try to go active if possible, but we have heard this is difficult. What is the best way for him to to secure funding for college after A school? His rate is GM.

No at this point he can not put in to go active for two years. My son will be in school for 10 pulse monthS but with hold time be will be gone longer. He is an FC. As for GI bill I think the VA helps with that I would call ten and ask.

Thanks for your reply. I did find out they he has to have 90 days of "aggragate" service. Boot camp and A school do not count. So to qualify for the Post 9/11 GI Bill, he  would have to volunteer to or get deployed for at least 90 days. There is the Montgomery Bill the reservists can use right away, but it only covers 33% of school. That's what we were told.

I have a son that is also a reservist that just got to bootcamp. He thinks he will be ET but might be FC. I have been having the same problem with figuring out how long A school is and if he has to go to C school. Have you gotten any more information?

My son is a reservist, graduates from BC on August 21, then straight to A school, he is also a GM.  He thinks he will be home sometime between Christmas and New Years.  Thanks for the information regarding GI bill.
