My son is a BM he just got order to DC and we all are nervous any help? We would be so grateful!!!

Hello everyone,

My son has been in for 5 1/2 years now and will be in until 10 years or more. He is a BM2 and currently Assistant to the Chief as well as on the VBSS team on his ship. He was supposed to pick a new position for when he gets back from deployment (he stayed with his ship longer than most) but Monday he was told he will be going to Washington DC and exact orders with what he will be doing will be coming soon. He has so much advanced hand to hand combat as well as weapon training from being on the VBSS team for the past 4 years and two deployments as well as being a RIB boat captain we all are racking our brains wondering what he will do there. Is there a ship yard in DC?

If anyone reading this knows someone in Washington DC and in the Navy can you please ask them to contact me. His wife would like to start talking to people to figure out a safe town close by or apartment complex to look into for them and their 1 1/2 yr old son.

Thanks in advance to all that can help!!!!!

Take care all

Paula

Missmysail, my niece and her husband are secret service in dc. They live in Alexandria, va. Been there to visit it it's really nice. Not sure if a shipyard is there. I can contact her tomorrow and find out good neighborhoods unless someone let's you know before I get answers. I know living in DC is very expensive.

Hi Huggybear,

That would be great if you could. I think they would be looking for a family friendly apartment complex. They live in Virginia Beach now and I am sure renting a house in Alexandria would be a lot more than where they are now.

Thanks so much!!!!!!!!!
