OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

PIR date seems wrong?
Hi I am new to this site, my son left yesterday for BC so I was thinking his PIR would be either 1/2/15 or 1/9/15 but I received a call today from his recruiter telling me that the date would be 12/31/14. I find this strange since it is on a Wednesday and it is only about 6 1/2 weeks from now. His recruiter thinks it could be due to the holidays. Has anyone else been told this same information?

Thanks for the responses, I am thinking that 12/31 is correct since there is another mom that was told the same thing. I guess I will make my plane reservations on Southwest so I can change them if needed.

From what I have understood (so far) Sometimes a few sailors who get there at the beginning of the week will be the last few to fill up a division who is waiting to be completely full and start right away. Other times, the recruits who get there at the beginning of the week will wait on other recruits to show up and then start.So it's possible for the recruit who went in on the 17th may have been placed in a division who was waiting to start. And if anyone sees that I am wrong please feel free to correct me!

creolegoddess, see the Page, What does ??? mean? (A Guide to Navy Abbreviations and Terminology), to help you with many of the new terms you will come across, including "Push Division" because you are a little off in your understanding of that term. Recruits can be in a Push Division any time of year. It is around the holidays when recruits are more likely to have 10 Fridays rather than the typical 9 Fridays, which is the opposite of a Push Division, in which the recruits only have 8 Fridays.

creolegoddess, Her recruit is not in a Push Division. Her recruit arrived on 11/06/2014. By counting 9 Fridays PIR would be 01/02/2015, but PIR that week has been moved up to Wednesday due to the federal holiday at the end of the week.

My son went to BC on 11.13.14 and my form letter said grad will be 1.9.15... so there must be a few dates thrown together for PIR due to the holidays.

You'll be getting it soon. Well, it may be a few days. Those who received it today have recruits in Divisions 910 and 061 and 062.

Ok, I'm ready for mine! Is it still possible for his division to have a PIR date of 1/16 as well?

Yes, I believe that Division 065 will be in the 01/16/2015 TG. The TG would have to be VERY small for it not to be since that TG begins with Division 061. The average time to receive the form letter is 10 days after arrival and that is yet to come for you. The Thanksgiving holiday may delay the form letter a day or so.

I know based on what loved ones have reported. Form letters are sent once a division fills and completes P-days. One to four divisions complete P-days on a particular day.
