For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hi- New to this group- just wondering how everyone else is doing?
Not being able to see my Corpsman daughter in 1 1/2 years (COVID) is really putting a strain on me. Anyone have any information on Japan's opening status or when travel restrictions for our sailors will be lifted? I am hoping soon- I can't wait to go visit!

Good morning! It’s been a long time since anyone has added a comment. My son has been in Okinawa for a few months. Everything is different now with Covid. I would love to know of anyone’s recent travel experiences if anyone has been permitted to go. I would also love to know of any care package restrictions. Additionally, I would appreciate any ideas of useful items I could send. Thank you!

Hello! My daughter will soon leave too Okinawa. We are both excited about this new adventure. Doesn't look like this group is too active but, I am hoping to get some insight on travel, mailing packages and anything that will help ease my sailor into her new command.

Hi, I'm new here..my son left to Okinawa in Sept. 2017, and I still have not heard from him. I know he told me I wouldn't for awhile and I'm aware that he has never been a fan of writing letters or calling for that matter, but I really want to mail him a care package but I don' have the address. Any thoughts on how I can get it? His 21st Birthday just passed and OMG it hit me hard that I couldn't sing to him or hug and kiss him...Any input would greatly be appreciated...thanks, Proud Navy Mom

Hi, I'm new to this group. my son has been in Okinawa since January 2017 and has started working at a clinic giving immunizations. He is tough to get any information out of. Do any of you have kids there that have given you any details? I'm just trying to get a picture of what his life is like there. It's hard not being able to imagine what it is like.

Morning moms, my son has been state side in Bethesda MD since he enlisted and he got orders for Okinawa a couple of weeks ago. I read through some of your post so I have an idea as to items to get ahead of time to send him. Where he is currently stationed they are 2 two a room and it is literally the size of a cubicle with little storage do any of you have an idea as to the size of the room, I am trying to figure out bed sizes, if there is storage etc to start my shopping list.

Hi Kathy! According to our son (who loves his sleep) the linens they issue aren't that great, so we sent a jersey knit set in our first care package along with a memory foam pillow. When he leaves Okinawa, he can just give it to someone else rather than shipping it. Other than that, we send non-perishable food items like salsa, bbq sauces, trail mix, and specialty popcorn they don't carry at the exchange. We also send books (to read on deployments) and we sent a small decorated Christmas tree his first year there since we didn't know if he would be able to visit.
