Our Sailor will be leaving Corry Station this Thurday and heading to Norfolk VA, IT on the USS George Washington. I have enjoyed this group and it has been very helpful for us.  I am now looking for a Group for IT Navy Moms at Norfolk or on the George Washington, any info out there would be appreciated. Fair wind and following seas!

Hi son is at Corry since the end of July.  He started A school toward the end of August.  IT seems to be a pretty tough curriculum, as he has done well so far till his finals which he passed but lower scores than the rest of his classes.   Im still a little confused as to the status of him being reserve and those who continue onto C school.  This is a learning experience for me as I have zero family in the military.  I enjoy hearing from my son and love to see him growing into such a independent sailor.

Not sure if our son will be headed to Corry Station, he thought he was going to Pennsacola and should have arrived yesterday. He will be IT ATF (Advanced Tech Field we think) just wondering if any other folks out there know much about this route.

thank you BoomMom!!!

i too am curious about how long each phase is?

My son tells me phase 1 is 6 weeks but he wasn't sure about phase 2 or 3. do you know if they get a day or two off in between phases?; or do they do a final test one day and are the next phase the next day?

According to my son who is now is IT C school:

A+ is the first part.  It is a 2 part certification. 801 and 802.  Most people have the biggest challenge with this phase.

2nd part is CCNA (Routers and making them talk) 1 and MCP (welcome to Windows)  (Cisco Certified Network Administrator and Microsoft Certified Professional i'm pretty sure)

3rd part is ILE (Interactive Learning Environment)  It is all the radio parts that are military trained for ship and shore comms.

Hope this helps.

CO-TwinSalorsMom - or others who've BTDT...

can you tell me the three phases of IT training (A school)? i talked to my son yesterday and he said the first phase is:

phase1 ; A+ and is 6 weeks
phase2 ; CCNA - ?

phase3; ILE?

I have no idea if those acronyms are correct and/or what they stand for...or the length of the training.

thanks for any info.

New to group. My son arrived last night, Aug 2. He classes up Aug 11. Sounds like he won't have to wait around as long as others have. He gets bored easily so that's good. His buddies from BC that are in Pensacola are at NAS. Do they ever see each other?

My son is IT Bravo Class as well .  Been in P'cola since June 1st.  I wish I could say that the homesickness subsides but some times I think it gets worse.  My son is fine all week when busy with school.  But come time for the weekend and he is lost.  He had no problem making buddies in BC but he says that most of the guys he is with now are either loners or clicks.  My son is a very funny guy, everything is funny to him!  Its so hard to see him this way. I went down for the long July 4th weekend (we live in NY City) he was fine when we left.  But, His room mate just received his orders so he is leaving today.  His other buddy over in NAS rec'd orders a few weeks back. Hope he gets a good room mate fast.  He's a people person so I think he'd go stir crazy if he was alone.  But you are all so right...this is just a microcosm of regular life and we just have to trust that these strong folks will get through it
