We only had about 20 minutes on base with our son after PIR. BUT we did go to the airport (got a guest pass) and got to visit over two hours with him. It was better than nothing, but certainly not the weekend that we wanted. Be prepared for anything. I took our son a black bag with his laptop, his cell phone, and his favorite shorts and t-shirt.

Lol Susan...thanks for the info...hoping he doesn't leave too early. There are 5 of us going to see him and it's going to be emotional as it is with not having any time with him!

Just found out my son will be a grad n go for CTT after PIR on 7/23...was kind of surprised cuz it seemed like most of the CT's had a down time prior to A school from what I had read...we are a little sad as we had planned the whole weekend to spend with him in GL...

Yep - Noticed this morning on the way to work - rows of corn just barely breaking ground. I'll have to take the camera along tomorrow and start a series of pictures! Lol - my kid will think I don't have anything better to do!

Corinna - just found your note. That's way too funny that our names are spelled so closely! That's great your son will be in Hawaii! Isn't it something how these young sailors can get out to some really fantastic places? Man, I haven't been too far from home and didn't really notice, until now. I can't wait to see one of those huge ships up close. That will be something! Have fun at graduation and thanks for the note!
