JB's Mom - I think he'll miss Iowa at some point too. He's enjoying being out and about and on his own.
It's great your son is almost done with his classes and will get his orders. Hope you can let us know a little of where he will go. I'm just curious about where everyone would like work. My son wants to be on a ship - has never been on one - but that's what he thinks he wants right now.

Linda - He's going to be a CTR . We dont know much about it - typical for this type of work and this group - right? Mom & Dad won't hear any details - but I think he should like his job - I'm glad. I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed too!!

Linda -
He's at Corry Station and taking the introductory classes yet. He just arrived there last week. We shipped his laptop and other "important stuff" down there. Today he asked how much it cost us to ship cause now he wants a few shorts and T-shirts sent too. I'll have it ready to send off on Monday.
It's going to get unusually hot and humid here tomorrow - it should give our corn fields a good start. I'll have to e-mail him some typical Iowa scenes all summer - it will be cute to hear or read his comments!

Corinne, aww.. bless his heart ... too funny!!! yes, he'll have fun.. where in FL is he?

There's some good ideas here - I'll have to write them down!
LindainIvorVA - I like the big cookie. Let us know how that all turns out - I think your daughter will be surprised and very pleased.
LLovemytwosalors - I also like the cake or pie in a jar - my son would love to be assigned to a ship and that would be something nice to send too.
He called this morning - a group is going to the beach for the first time. He said they were out and about last evening and saw a lot of palm trees. He said the best thing about Florida - there's no corn fields in sight. Lol! He's been in such a hurry to leave Iowa - he'll have fun traveling in the Navy.

Colleen, Head over to Molly's adopt a sailor group. There is a mom over there that has a recipie for cake or pie in a jar. They stay fresh until they are opened and are a great idea to send to ship. Just ask and some one will point you to the right discussion.
