Hey guys, so I need a little bit of help. I have been with my lovely sailor for 2 years now and he is currently in bootcamp. He graduates the 22nd and leaves for A school in San Antonio on the 23rd. Luckily, San Antonio is only an hour away from where I live so I will be pretty close to him. My questions are, will I be allowed to go visit him on base, and if so when and for how long? Will he have access to a car while in A School? (he mentioned something about government owned cars he would be allowed to use?) And also would he be able to leave for a weekend to come stay with me? I believe he will be E-4 by the time he gets out (I'm not totally positive though). Thank you so much for any help!!

My sailor just went to bed so I'll ask him all of your questions when I hear from him tomorrow unless someone answers your questions first.

Also gonna add you as a friend and message you. I have some questions for you that I don't want to leave in a public comment due to security reasons.

Thank you so much :D

He will have to earn his liberty privileges in phases.  I have the ones for Great Lakes, but all the training commands use something similar.  You can look at the Great Lakes policy, it will give you an idea of what your sailor may expect.  He cannot spend the night away from base until he hits phase three, and must have his liberty buddies with him at all times, unless he puts in a chit for you to be his liberty buddy.

Government cars?  I would love to know who told him that.  No, someone was pulling his leg.

HM is usually not one of the ratings which has automatic advancement to E-4.    He may be eligible, but HM is overmanned, advancement is tight right now.
