Hi everyone, so my fiancé shipped off to basic on 8/20/14 I received the phone all that night and he said I would receive all of hiss information including his address in ten days in the box. But I have read numerous places that the address doesn't come in the box. I saw I could have to wait up until another ten days after the box comes in to get his address. I honestly don't think I can wait that long. I am a complete wreck without having any communication and I am worried sick. I know he is fine I just have no idea what to expect. Any help would be awesome. Thanks so much everyone.

That's correct.... His address will come separately in a letter. By the time hr sends the box he won't even have his address yet to send to you so it's impossible for him to send it to you in the box. They are in one barracks for their processing days before they are moved to their permanent barracks.

You can start writing him letters so once you receive his address you can send them all & he'll get a bunch of mail all at once. He will be able to write a note at the bottom of his form letter, with his address & PIR information, but aside from that they don't usually get to send mail until their third week I believe. The lack of communication is tough but you can do this!! Writing to him will be really cathartic for you & you will feel so much joy when you finally receive his letter!
That's what I thought. I have been writing him letters everyday. I just wish he could have them so he knew everyone back home was supporting him. I feel bad he has nothing coming in. I know all of the other recruits are in the same situation just wish the address could be given out a lot sooner. Thanks so much for your information.
I know, it's hard! But think of it this way, even if you had his address & could send them he wouldn't get them anyway right now. They'd be held in the base post office until his ship's mail petty officer was trained, which usually takes about 3-4 weeks. So he isn't able yo receive mail right Noe even IG you could send it & trust me, when he gets a HUUUUUUGE stack because you've been writing every day, nothing will make him feel better! When my husband was in booy camp, he told Mr he got the biggest stack of mail on yhe it first mail call & he felt like a king.
Yes I know! I got his box today!! So that means his address shouldn't be to far behind right? Maybe a week or so? I am so proud of him! Thank you everyone for all the encouragement! Hopefully the struggle of missing him and everything will get easier!
My husband's letter came in about a week and he got a 10 minute phone call a week and a half in. But it all depends on how they are doing and everything I think. It will come sooner than you think just stay busy. I sent something everyday and he was so glad I did. They hate not hearing their name at mail call. So start writing now. Lol.
Yes I am absolutely writing everyday. I am having such a hard time. I am staying as busy as possible. But thanks again for the information! Does anyone know if p-days go through the weekend?
