He just left August 12, I've received his package of clothes now just waiting for his address letters. I'm trying to make a timeline of what to expect But I'm kind of lost. Like how I will go see him for when he graduates ( I live in California and trying to budget how much it would be to go out there) and how long will I have with him till he goes to San Diego for his A-school. And then after that which will probably end in december-ish, approximately how long till we find out when we are moving to our first station!
And another thing, is there a limit to how much mail he can receive? I know only send letters no packages or products- But just don't want to end up sending too many and getting him in trouble!
THANKS, sorry just a first time navy wife and by my lonesome...

Hey my husband just graduated two days ago so I know exactly what your going through. If he is your husband expect a form within two weeks that allows you to get your military ID. Also I sent a letter everyday to my husband and he never got in trouble the others would actually comment that they wish they had someone like that. Except a call within four weeks in. They call on the weekend from 6am-6pm cali time. If your his wife and you get the ID than stay that the Gateway on base in Great Lakes, I paid 53 dollars a night and it's a wonderful hotel. For his A school in San Diego, he fly out the Saturday after graduation and start the following monday, however it all depends he will know before he graduates. So if everything goes as normal you will have all day after grad and whatever time you spend at the airport. I'm not to positive about the duty stations because I haven't got that far yet.

Are you in the boot camp moms group?  You can find PIR groups there as the grad dates cone in, which help with knowing how and when to plan your trip.

He should get orders to his first duty station about four weeks before he graduates.  Should.  Some ratings move more smoothly than others where orders are concerned.  For some, if he does very well in school, he can get first pick from sets of orders prepared for his class.

My husband left on the 12th and I have not received anything yet :( I miss him already so much. Will I know when he's leaving for A school in advanced. That way I can prepare the graduation weekend better.

Which rating?

IS

School is in Dam Neck, VA, so he probably will fly out on Saturday.

Thank you

Hi I flew to O'hare international airport from LAX and it cost me about $288 so I suggest buying early. KAYAK has this notification on the top of their page that let's you know when to purchase a ticket. It'll say price may go down so wait to buy or buy right away. I stayed at sleep inn for $98 a night. I really wanted to stay at the navy lodge because the price $66 a night and read many great reviews but it books quickly so make sure you call or book weeks in advance. I couldn't stay at the Gateway on base because we aren't married yet. I rented a car rather than using a taxi. Renting a car was pretty pricy for me because of my age and i made sure i got full coverage just in case. For me renting a car was worth it because I was able to drive my sailor where he wanted and since he got hurt rather than flying out to Pensacola the next day for A school we had him the whole weekend which was a wonderful surprise! Hope this helps. :)
