Hi ladies! I'm new to the group, and this site in general, so I just wanted to introduce myself and see if there are any navy wives on here who's husband leaves for BC next week too or have left recently.

My name is Marie, I'll be 25 in December. My husband and I have been together for 8.5 years and married 1 year in November. We have one toddler son who will be a "two-nager" next month lol. My husband is leaving for BC next week and it will definitely be difficult, especially with a child. My son is attached to the both of us so I know it'll be difficult trying to explain to him why daddy isn't home.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Nice "meeting" you all! :)

My husband finished bootcamp Aug 22. We have a 3 year old. She actually took it pretty well there was a few times she cried and said she wanted daddy. I got this book called "countdown till daddy comes home" she loves it!!! I got mine on amazon. I told her exactly where he was and showed her pictures from the recruit training command Facebook. And just stay busy! And let her "write" Him everyday. Hope that helps a little!
Thank you so much for your reply! I will definitely be purchasing that book :)

thank you for that book! i will be ordering it for my son as well! my husband left for BC 2 weeks ago today and my son just really started asking for him the last couple days. we tried to explain to him that daddy was going to the navy but he of course has no idea what that is.

My husband has been in boot camp for 3 weeks and it has been the hardest 3 weeks of my life. I have 3 kids 6 and under and they are a handful. They are all very attached to my husband and have been having issues especially the oldest. The only thing i can say is routine

Oh wow, I think my little one is a handful and I feel like I can be on the brink of insanity sometimes since I'm a stay at home mom... I'm sure your doing an amazing job with your 3, I can't imagine how much tougher it is on you with more than one child. The upside is that your husband is almost done with bootcamp :) although I know bootcamp is the first of many hurdles. I have created a schedule not only for my son, but for me as well and I am going to keep us busy, but I'm going to make sure we're being productive too... Although I won't forget to throw in some lazy days here and there lol. Thank you for your reply! I really appreciate it, Good luck to your family!

the good thing about this time of year is that we have the pumpkin patch and apple orchard to do. we also have a small vacation planned for my neices birthday to the Keylime cove (an indoor water park) and Disney on Ice came to chicago so we have that as well. we have something planned just about every weekend and my son starts head start tomrrow so he will have that during the week, trying to keep busy to keep our minds off of daddy being gone! Is your husband in Great Lakes, IL for basic training as well?
