So me and my boyfriend have been dating for almost 2 years. Back in February he officially enlisted in the US Navy. And he wasn't supposed to leave for boot camp until October. He is in the Nuke program and they asked him if he could leave June 9th. It's been a week tomorrow of him being gone, and i'm not going to lie, it's pretty tough not being able to talk to him everyday. I honestly don't know how I made it a week without any communication. I got the box in the mail on Friday, so now all i'm waiting for is the form with all of his information about his division, address, and graduation date.

I guess all i'm seeking is some support from fellow girlfriends/fiance's/spouses. This is all new to me and it's pretty stressful. I've been working a lot to keep me occupied but I find myself overthinking. I miss him so much, and i'm sure he misses me just the same. Any advice is appreciated, and I am so excited to be a member!!

Thanks!!

I'm going through the same thing as you. It's definitely hard, my fiancé and I have been together for 3 years he left on June 4 I finally received the form letter today! He graduates July 31,2015. I couldn't wait for the form letter I was getting desperate luckily he left a message with his recruiter before he left and asked her to contact me as soon as she had his official information which is what she did. if you need anything I'm here! Going through the exact same thing as you
Hey Jatjo! Glad to see you're apart of this great community now! I'm at about the same place you are my fiancé has been gone since the 7th. I got his box the same day as you and received his form letter today so check that mailbox every day! Remember that No News is Good News! It means everything is on track and normal for him in BC. If you have any questions or concerns let me know and I'll be happy to help. I've spent this whole first week diving into all I can know about what to expect and what's ahead for us on this side of things as well as what they're doing. :)

Thanks Jackie, I really appreciate the support. When I got the box in the mail it was shocking, I mean I was expecting it but it didn't really hit me until I saw it. He's been gone a week today so hopefully i'll get his form letter by this week or early next week. I'm getting so anxious and I just want to hear from him so bad. Luckily, my brother went through boot camp about 2 years ago so i've been talking to him about it too. I know once I start hearing from him i'll get better but right now it's just a waiting game. I'm guessing his PIR date is going to be 8-7-15. I was counting the weeks so I hope i'm right. My letters are piling up! I need to send them! Haha :)

Wow, you've gone almost a whole month without speaking to him. That's crazy. Props to you because I don't think I would be able to do that. When he does finally write you, you should ask him what took so long. I write 1 letter a day everyday. I haven't received his form letter yet i'm already on my eighth letter. Haha. I've been feeling really stressed and anxious the last couple of days, so i'm hoping this site will help relieve some of that. That's a great idea about the graduation date. I'll look for the PIR date to see if a group has been made. Maybe i'll even meet a few people whose sailors are in the same division. I don't know what I would do if this site didn't exist. It feels good to know that there are others going through the same thing as me.

You are not alone. My boyfriend and I have been together a year and the first two weeks were the hardest. He left may 19th and he is 1/2 way through. It's going by fast. It got easier after receiving my first letter. Keep your head up.
hey my boyfriend left on may 20th and arrived at bootcamp on may 22nd , its really hard specially that we have a 2years old son , im still stress and depress because i haven't receive anything yet , his belongings and form letter went thru his mom and his mom doesn't wanna tell me anything about the form letter , she doesn't wanna tell me if she got a call or letter . i'm really getting hard time cuz i can't communicate to him and tell him everything about me and our son here .

My suggestion is wait for him to write you so you have his address. I'm sorry that his mom is doing that, that sounds really selfish not only to you, but your son as well. Hopefully he took a little address book like my boyfriend did with everyone's addresses so he can write you. When he does write you, I would let him what's going on, but assure him that everything's okay because you don't want him to stress out even more in boot camp. He will write you, keep your head up!!

Mine left 6-2 the first couple weeks are the hardest. Its still hard for me but once communication started i got easier. Hang in there girl

Yeah, this week has been hard. But it actually went by pretty fast now that I look back. Once I hear from him i'll be doing a whole lot better. It's just hard going from seeing and talking to him everyday to no communication at all. It's a big adjustment in a small amount of time but i'm handling it. I'm just surrounding myself with family and working a lot to pass the time. I've been keeping in touch with his family too. I'm not sure where the letter will go so me, his dad, and his grandma are all constantly checking our mailboxes! Haha. Thanks for replying, means a lot. :)

His PIR could even be 7/31! It really just depends. Hopefully you find out soon and can join the group for that date. Keep your chin up! You are stronger than you realize and you can and will get through this time. We are all here for you!

Welcome!

My husband is a Nuke and has been in over 5 years now (I still can't believe it's been that long!). He joined when we were dating and I was 16 and time has flown by. Boot camp is rough. It's a huge adjustment for everybody. But usually boot camp brings people closer together. The letters are amazing and something I'll keep for the rest of my life. Nuke school is a lot worse, but it's manageable. Just learn to be patient and go with the flow... which is normally the hardest part if you're a planner. Do your best to be understanding and supportive instead of demanding his attention and time that he may not have to give. Learn to compromise, and the best thing we've learned through all of this is the importance of communication.

Let me know if you have any questions about the Nuke program. I'd be happy to help you if you'd like!

Hang in there! It's never easy, but you learn how to cope. :)

Thanks Emily! Congrats on you and your Sailor you two look really happy together! Him leaving for boot camp is the hardest thing I've ever had to go through. For the almost 2 years we've been together, we've never been apart for more than a week at a time. I can only imagine what he must be going through at boot camp, I know that it's not easy. But I have never been more proud of him. He made the decision to enlist so fast. I was always supporting him from the very beginning and he will always continue to have my support through everything. I definitely already feel so much closer to him and he has only been gone a week today.

I've been hearing a lot about Nuke school and how difficult it is. I'm a pretty go with the flow person so it shouldn't be a huge problem, I hope anyway. We've always been good at communicating as well. I'm sure Nuke school is going to keep him really busy. I understand that this is his career and he needs to focus. I will be going to school as well. I should be graduating college by the time Nuke school is over and our plan is for me to go wherever he gets stationed.

I will definitely let you know about any further questions about the Nuke program!

Thanks so much! :)
