Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hello My Fellow Navy Wives,

My Hubby is finishing up A school this week and has orders to go to San Diego. Which is pretty awesome! His assigned ship has already deployed and they will be sending him to meet the ship shortly after he arrives in CA. Here's the problem.  When he first joined earlier this year were informed that all expenses to relocate would be paid by the Navy. As of today, they have informed my Hubs that the Navy does not pay for the first move from home but they will cover the moves thereafter.  No how in the heavens are we going to afford to move from the east coast to CA?? And we have a one car to get there as well. Help! Are there other resources? Is this accurate information?  I am so overwhelmed and frustrated and trying not to break down and cry...and here come the tears.  This is too much ladies.  We have a one year old and I have a job that I must give notice to.  Not to mention an apartment whose lease isn't up until the end of October.

Can any one help me out?  I just need some direction.

Pardon me, but whoever told him this is full of crap.  He has PCS orders in hand, they are to a CONUS duty station, and he is married.  You get a paid move.  Who is "they"?  Because they are wrong.  He needs to talk to personnel for pay, to the travel office for travel, and to personal property to arrange your pack out.  

The Navy does not ship cars, you either drive it cross-country, or you pay a shipper.

You can talk to your landlord/rental agency and see if they will break the lease because he has orders.  They might.

As long as you give your hubby's orders, and written notice you're covered by SCRA and can break your lease. At most all they can do is make you pay rent for the next month if it's not 30 days notice

The details might be a little outdated, as I wrote this blog 2 years ago, but I wrote about our first PCS move.  We did our own move and were reimbursed by the Navy.  Here it is:  My First PCS
 
We're in San Diego, feel free to private message me if you have questions.  :)  Oh, have you husband look into RAP duty.  Recruiter Assistance Program.  He can take leave between A School and his first duty station.  If he gets it oked by his recruiter, he can go "assist" the recruiter for up to 5 days and get his leave days back.  Not a bad deal.

I just sent you a friend request so I can message you! 

They might be referring to advance DLA - I have heard that some commands are not authorizing the money to move in advance but are reimbursing families afterwards. I don't know how true this is though. When we PCSed from San Diego to Norfolk, we got half the money in advance and were paid thw rest through reimbursement (keep your receipts for any hotels, meals, gas, etc!). We moved last June.

I have heard this too.  Bit he can probably pull some advance pay, or hit up Navy Relief for a no interest emergency loan.

I was in ur position up to a few weeks ago. My hubby had orders to CA and we had to figure everything out by ourselves, it was so overwhelming and stressful. He has to contact the PPO office that he is at and they can help set up his move. You have two options, either pack your things up and attach it to your car and drive yourself. When you do it that way they pay you for mileage. Or the other option, (which we did) is the navy will buy your plane tickets (which your husband has to set up with his career counselor) and your husband has to go to the PPO where he is in A school and they will help him fill out the move.mil application, this is when the movers come and pack all your things and drive it to CA for you, you do not have to worry about paying or packing anything this way except your vehicle. We are from CT and had to pay to move out car which is costing us $1,200 and we are currently waiting for our HHG but the fleet and family center let us borrow sleeping mats and pots and pans. There is so much info to take in, I am still learning myself but I hope this helps and if u have any questions feel free to msg me I know I didn't cover it all
