While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

It is Recruiter Assistance Program. He can use it for five days between A school and his first command. Basically, he takes leave between the two, then helps the recruiter for five days with things like visiting parents and schools. Then the recruiter puts in the paperwork, and he gets five days or earned leave back. yes, it is very easy to get, but he gives up some of his time while he is home on leave. Not too much though, it really is a good program.

If you're coming up this weekend though, there's no way of getting the chit. They usually need to be turned in by that Tuesday or Wednesday. Good info for the future though. :) Enjoy your time.

No you can't go into the barracks. You can be on the Quarterdeck and in the lobby area, but that's all. There are plenty of places on base that you can go. The Loft is popular and fun. Games and things. There's a movie theater and some restaurants as well. If you're married, your husband can fill out a liberty buddy deviation chit, even on phase one. He needs to fill one out for every day you want to take him. You'll be able to take him off base alone as long as he has the chit. It'll get approved as long as he puts it in on time. Once he's phase 2, he can do a deviation chit and also an overnight chit. That will also be approved if filed on time. And you can have him the whole weekend. But if he has watch, he has to report back for that day. Aim for a duty free weekend.

A school question- my husband is currently at a school great lakes. I am going up there this weekend to visit. We are trying to find things to do since he has to have a buddy with him, my question is am I allowed in the barracks at all? to hang out and play video games or anything?

It depends on the A school, but in general, they have to have their own transportation. It is true that at Great Lakes, the housing is close enough they can walk.

I think the car thing depends on if you are choosing base housing or off base housing. In Great Lakes, I know several ladies who live with their husbands in base housing without a car. I don't know of any off base housing sailors without a car. They need to know that he won't miss school or work because of not having a ride.
