I'm a Navy Wife and I created this group back when I was a girlfriend and my now husband had gone to bootcamp. Its funny because i joined this website when they had under 50 members. This website has been sooooo helpful and I met so many people on here that gave great advice. I made this group so that we could all come together and give eachother advice and share ideas. I see that this group is growing more and more by the day, Im happy to see that because so many wives/fiances/and girlfriends are clueless when it comes the military lifestyle. Not knowing what to expect and not knowing about deployments, bootcamp, duty stations, etc. I want this to be the place you all recommend because so many people on this site are knowledgeable and very helpful. Once again thanks for joining my group and i hope you get all the information you need. I dont get to log on as much as i used to but i try my best to get on here. So if u have any questions feel free to make a discussion topic and Im positive that it will get answered if not, inbox me :-) Take Care ♥

The A school must be longer than 20 weeks to authorize a dependent move.  Does not include hold times.  It will say on his orders if that is the case.  He needs to talk to his COC (chain of command) about Live Ashore, because he needs to put a packet in to get permission.  If authorized, he contacts Personal Property Office about moving their stuff, and after she travels there, it may be possible to be reimbursed.  She may have to drive, as the Navy doesn't move cars, and he probably has to have transportation to get brown bagger/live ashore.

Housing is not always available, only nukes and AECF tend to get it.  She'll need to rent a place.

He hits phase two liberty in about a month an can put in for live shore then, IF it is allowed.  MOST A schools are not long enough.  Nuke, AECF, SECF, and maybe DLI language school  are the ones I know off the top of my head.  There may be more.  I know one in Pensacola is long enough on paper, but they are strict.

Texasmom,
Normally wives cannot move down for their Sailor a school. It depends how long the school is which if it more than 6 months they can move. I moved for my husband A school but into an apartment and not base housing since it is their school aND they cannot move off base or live with spouse. So I moved myself and see him when he is on liberty

Anyone have ex poo erience with husband going to a school, and process of wife moving there . I know the sailor has period of restriction to base till phase up to go off base etc. But at what point can wife move there, get into base housing if they have it avail at that A school, or get apartment etc. And what depth 9f navy does wife and or sailor speak wth to take xare of moving spouse to a school location, or check to see if base housing avail etc

Word on the bootcamp group seems to be a lot of the form letters are running late.

Elizabeth, my boyfriend also shipped out on 12/3, and neither I nor his mother have received letters yet either. We are hoping that today they will have some free time to write since it is a Sunday, and that it will be coming sometime this week!

Comment by Anti M on December 13, 2015 at 10:49am

His recruiter won't have details about what is happening at RTC.  Just because others shipped on that date does not mean they are on the same exact timeline, some may have gotten straight into divisions, while others are waiting for their division to fill up.  Also, a lot depends on where you live in the US, can take an extra three days for mail to hit some states ... and the postal service is really busy this time of year.  Just be patient a little while longer.

Hello all, I need some advice. I'm feeling down because I keep seeing that people are getting their form letters from their SR that shipped on 12/3. My fiancé shipped that date and I have no received the letter :( do I continue to wait or should I call his recruiter and see if I can get info? Thanks in advance!

Eventually, yes, once he gets to his permanent duty station.  During aircrew training, probably not.
