You'll find there are exceptions, such as Homecoming when the ships come back, and other similar situations. But overall, no touchy touchy kissy kissy. It is all about the uniform.
The PDA thing is for the entire Navy career when they are in uniform.
Is that for his entire Navy career? Or only for at boot camp?
Barney: All of that is true. When you exit the hall, you need to stand on his left side and grab his arm. I gave him a kiss obviously when I first saw him, but it's only until you walk to the car. Then you can be all kissy kissy :)
My boyfriend is in boot camp right now and I was wondering if there are any PDA restrictions. I heard that we can't hold hands when he is in uniform, only hold his arm. And that I can only stand on his left side incase he has to salute someone. Are those true? And if so, is there anything else I should know?
GenK, you can go visit, of course, just get a tourist visa, good for 90 days. If you are a spouse, you will have a military ID and can access the base easily. I have only heard of the 60 days for non-dependents, but I honesty do not know if that has changed or is new. He will have to ask to be sure of current policy.
Apply for a passport right away, as soon as you can.
I don't know why Yokosuka is so tough. Their hospital is actually extremely good, I had emergency surgery there twice. Crowded though, so I can see why they would limit dependents.
He will get leave each year, but they rarely grant the full 30 days in one block. A couple weeks is usual. Air fare is freakishly high. Start saving pennies for visits!
