I'm a Navy Wife and I created this group back when I was a girlfriend and my now husband had gone to bootcamp. Its funny because i joined this website when they had under 50 members. This website has been sooooo helpful and I met so many people on here that gave great advice. I made this group so that we could all come together and give eachother advice and share ideas. I see that this group is growing more and more by the day, Im happy to see that because so many wives/fiances/and girlfriends are clueless when it comes the military lifestyle. Not knowing what to expect and not knowing about deployments, bootcamp, duty stations, etc. I want this to be the place you all recommend because so many people on this site are knowledgeable and very helpful. Once again thanks for joining my group and i hope you get all the information you need. I dont get to log on as much as i used to but i try my best to get on here. So if u have any questions feel free to make a discussion topic and Im positive that it will get answered if not, inbox me :-) Take Care ♥

Yea its pretty easy. We are stationed at ft belvior Virginia, weve been here since september, he is blue side. Generally you only go green if you are a reservist or if you request to go green. Most active duty is blue.

Oh and 1 more thing... sorry... school is 7 weeks. My husband said its a breeze, he didnt even think they needed the full 7 weeks because most of the time was spent just waiting on their orders to come in :) sorry it took three comments to get your entire answer!

And it isn't very popular There are only about 400 in the navy and generally only 1 per ship and 1 or 2 per chapel :)

My husband is a religious program specialist! we are shore duty right now. All he basically does is office work and sets up for different services at chapel. At sea they run libraries and and do the same office type work as well as acting body guard for the chaplains. My husband really likes the rate and the people he works with! you can message me if you'd like!

Anti M - Well he is currently in a leadership position and still has good grades/good work ethic, but he's sort of struggling mentally/emotionally I guess. There obviously have been a lot of changes for him and this is a very difficult school so it's a lot to take in. I personally think he might need to find his footing and get in the groove of things. :)

navywife27 - Oh that's ok!! I didn't think anything of it! :)

Oh my goodness I feel like a real jerk. I've been in two different conversations and didn't read the comment correctly. So I apologize.

What happens when they are struggling is that they're sent to mandatory study first, they may have to repeat a section.  They give them every opportunity to succeed.  If he truly cannot hack it, he is put into a hold situation.  They look at what he qualifies for, and what is open at the moment.  He may get a technical field, but he might not.  This takes time, so he must be patient, and not give up no matter which way his path is decided for him.

However, if he gives up and shows so signs of a good attempt, it is less likely they'll give him a chance at another school.  That's when undesignated happens.  He needs to know he has to give the appearance of a good and willing attitude.  That can be tough!

Yeah, he wasn't planning on throwing in the towel right away, but he just wanted to know. He's not a quitter, so it would only be a last resort type of thing!

Comment by navywife27 on January 10, 2014 at 3:30pm
Don't give up on nuke school before you even try it! Don't have him switch before he tries it. That doesn't sound reasonable. Everyone knows that nuke school is going to be challenging but have him give it a chance. No it's not easy but he shouldn't give up yet!! It's not easy to switch anyways...,
Comment by Stephanie C on January 10, 2014 at 3:29pm

By get out he just means possibly switching schools/programs. He was also wondering if he would stay in the "engineer" field or if he would be totally switched out. He really is trying his best, I can see it, but certain people handle things differently than others. He's going to keep trying his best, he isn't the type to give up, but he wanted to know if there were options or a "safety net" so to speak. Thanks!
