I'm not sure which group to post this in but this group is always so helpful lol. Can anyone tell me the protocol for sailors driving to their first command after A school? My sailor got a travel brief but since no one had their orders yet it didn't seem to be too informative. He said he needs proof of insurance and his drivers license, but doesn't need the car's registration. Is this correct? Also, if the car is not in his name but it is insured, why would he need insurance? Or does the car need to be his? We're a bit confused, any help appreciated!

Hi Michael, I know it's hard but keep showing pictures and let her know that daddy is working. My husband was in a year, then our son was born but now even with underways here and there I still have to let him know that daddy is at work. So, that's what he thinks. He's only 3, so he don't fully understand everything but understands daddy being at work.

Our daughter is 3 been really hard on her trying to tell her where dada is. Sometimes I wonder if we thought this through with her in mind. I worry for her

And although you can file a claim its some stuff you can't put a price tag on and me personally would rather not go through all that. We did have items that were broken and scratched, but the process is rather easy and simple. Good luck! :-)

Oh, depending on your moving company. That will come back the next day and get your boxes. We met the movers at our home at 8 in the morning and once they were finished I immediately started unpacking. I wanted to do this to check and see all of our things were exactly the way they should and to make sure nothing was missing Bc it happens. We had a couple of items that weren't ours, so it's good to go ahead and unpack Bc I know some people who will wait. I had a few boxes left but I just sit them outside and some of the neighbors grabbed them and I was totally fine with that.

My husband and I just went through that with our 3rd duty station. Will your place be ready when you get there or have you thought that far ahead? The reason I was asking is Bc his time around out place wasn't ready, so we stayed in base lodging which of course provided towels, pans, and all the essentials that you need. All you would need is important papers and clothes as someone previously stated. Enjoy your new journey! :-)

Be sure to have him ask if you qualify for an express shipment.  Sometimes they will separately pack essentials such as towels, pans, dishes, and sheets and ship those faster.  Might just be for overseas now, but he should check on that for you.

I was also raised Navy, some of my best childhood memories are those cross-country drives.

Anti M. That is awesome. I was wondering the same after my husband leaves boot camp. It will be so hard to part with things.
