My son is in A school & should graduate Sept 9th!  After BESS, time goes quick.  My son was lucky to be able to class up within a week & a half after ATT & TCNO!  Sometimes he gets bored in Groton but now the weather is better & the beach is right there!

Very Good!!  It will be nice to have a hometown friend there!!  Hope you had a great time in GL!!  Give me a call (or email) when you are ready to grab a soda (or a chocolate shake!).  Looking forward to hearing your stories.

Jims cupcake....I got a FB message from your sailor right away asking what room my sailor was in. He was so excited J finally arrived. I think it mostly maybe to play video games with.

Oh, then I can tell you that he will go through BESS (they do this one together), then to ATT, and TCNO (last two are self paced). This took my son from Jan. to the end of May. Rose's son was much faster, which is why he is a little ahead now.
Then the relocate to a new building where they room with only their A school, where before they were all mixed up roommate-wise.

Thank you ladies so much. My sons job is going to be a Secf. I definitely like the cells phone back in their hands.

And Rose, we need to tell her that some of the schools are self paced and the boys don't all move through at the same time. Is J going to graduate in early September? iB says that he will graduate in early October. Which nicely ties in with one of my breaks. YEAH! I get to go to graduation.
Point here is, our two kids started at essentially the same time, but they have moved through at different paces.
Also, they seem to keep track of the order of graduation, in terms of time it takes as well as grade status. At least my son can tell me who was first to move to A school, and he knows what his place was in the class.

Hi Lorie-go to pages 15 and 14 to read Our discussion about Groton schools. Be sure to read 14 as I got the TCNO part wrong and mamamira fixed me, and now I still don't remember. Anyway, read those entries and then see if it makes sense.
My son has been at Groton since January, and is just now in his first month of A school. it is a rather long journey. But so much nicer than bootcamp! For them and us. Lol

Lorie.... I don't know what is your case but if he just finish BC right now may be he is in hold to start BESS.  Once he start BESS graduation is usually 8 weeks.  IF he pass everything he will graduated, if not he can be send back until he pass all the test.  Once they finish they usually are on hold until they put together another class.  After that is ATT that is around a month sometimes less depend on how fast they are.  Again hold for....Then TECNO, that is around a month or again less depend how fast.  Again hold for.....A school and usually is 4 months.  After A school, sometimes they need C- school.  In my son case he will finish A-school in September and hopefully he receive his orders by then.  As you can see is holds in between, that why they take a while.  My son got to Groton in Dec. 29 and he will finish September 9, so basically took almost nine months.  Also the time depends in what job is he doing.  I think everybody is a little different, but your son will be finding out as he goes.  Hope this help you a little.  Good Luck, and welcome to the group.

Hello...my son just arrived in Groton Saturday. All this is new for us. When you are talking about the graduation date is that after the first 4 initial weeks? And do some leave to go onto subs after the 4 weeks? Or do they all get the 27 -32 weeks of training. My sone mentioned he would be in CT for almost 9 mon.
