I have talked to him every day either by text message or on FB so that is pretty exciting!

Well navy Bear.    I know they they study a lot...  and do a lot of guard duty.  so most of the time they are very busy... however  they are able to talk to you  by phone and other sourses...

they do move them..  when my son had his wife move to Groton,  they came by to pick up his car.   and a few days before my daughter in law left.. a big moving truck came and took all their furniture and personal stuff.  they have movers come and pack everything for them... she just took with her a small suitcase on the plane.,

Hi Moms!   my son just reported to Groton this past Saturday.  He is super excited.  I am clueless about what happens from this point so forgive me in advance for all the questions I am bound to ask :)

They pay for single sailors to move, just as they would married families! So whatever they have to go, will get to their next duty station:)

My Sailor was able to leave base over the weekend and went on a shopping spree. Its his money what can I ask but he is going to have alot of stuff to sale when he leaves Groton..

Matt's money seems to be burning a hole in his pocket too, although he's made a point of saving as much of it as he can. He's kinda always been like that--just now he has more money to play with.

He insists on paying for me to come out for BESS graduation, though. It's a chance to see him, so I'm not REALLY complaining...but that's almost a 500 dollar trip. Sometimes I feel like that 500 would be better used elsewhere (like saving up for our wedding...)

They are allowed off base, but they have curfew earlier than yellow and blue card. I think they have to be in by 10 on white and midnight on yellow. I know what you mean about the money burning a hole. My son has bought so many civilian clothes! I think the "newness" of having his own real money will wear off soon.

I received a call from my son last night as well and he too was at the mall.  He's only been in Groton since Monday, Jan 9th.  I thought they were on white card for 2 weeks which means no off base activities.  Confused but happy he is able to go off base, however, I do beleive his newly earned pay is burning a hole in his pocket.  I think he needs to pay better attention in the "Financial Responsibilty" classes!

Good Morning to my Navy Family... I was texting with my Sailor last night, I asked him what he was doing, playing his new playstation 3. He said no walking around the mall.. I ask him where, he said Hartford.. I am so happy for him that he is phased up so he can leave the base now...
