Congrats Tacky on your son moving on to his new adventure.  It is a long path for them to get there.

Well Ladies, today my son detaches from Groton to make his journey to Norfolk to the USS Wasp to start his new adventure.  Farewell to everybody and hoping for the best to each and every one of your Sailors.  Wishing everybody a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year....maybe our paths will cross again but until then ..... Enjoy the journey that the US Navy takes you on, I have so far, and remember to show the pride for our young boys and girls serving for our freedom. HOOYAH UNITED STATES NAVY.....

My son spent his first couple of weeks in the Liberty Center. But the Pub apparently has better internet service. He's only 18 yrs old.

rlbly- as long as they don't drink, they can still go to the pub.  My son says his ATT service is bad too.  But he likes liberty center too.

Comment by rlbly on November 10, 2011 at 11:42pm

I don't think mine could go to the pub he is not 21 yet

My son spends his free time in the pub most evenings. He says the internet service is good ... But the cell service is not. So since he found the pub... My communication is minimal.

I texted the info about Thanksgiving to my son. He has been pretty good about keeping in touch since BC. I do bribe him with gift packages. I am not as anxious about him being gone now that I know he is happy.

Most of the guys on base have a friend that lives off base so they go and spend the holiday with their friends family.. Thats how I ended up having a few for thanksgiving. I mean they're here almost every weekend so I feel like I've adopted anyway...LOL

.Sailors, not going home for Thanksgiving, outstanding families in Southeastern Connecticut are looking for Sailors to join them for dinner. Interested Sailors can sign up for the program at the SUBASE Liberty center.

Each year thousands of service members spend this American holiday alone, away from their families. Would you like to open your home to Sailors for Thanksgiving?

For more information, and to receive a host family application contact the SUBASE Liberty Center at (860) 694-5374.
