Laney IDK the answer either I am kind of stalking their facebook page hoping to see something on this. My son just got there on Sat. He did his A school first and now I'm in the same boat (no pun intended) as you and I'm sure lots of others wondering about this. These ladie have been really nice about answering all my crazy questions I'm sure they would tell us if they knew for sure. I think we should just keep our fingers crossed for now :-) have a good day.

Since he is there with his wife  he said he will adopt a sailor  for the holidays and I told him that is very nice of him  to share his home to other sailors who are not as fortunate.

That makes me feel good I know some places are better than others. My husband was in the Marine Corp for 12 years so I kinda know the drills :-( doesn't mean I have to like them LOL but it's different as a mom. I sure hope you get to see your son this year at Christmas that will be nice and maybe he will be stationed closer to you who knows though right???

Cheri; Thanks for the information, I appreciate it very much. I think my son did A school first because of the class schedule at BESS as he was delayed in bootcamp 7 weeks from a knee injury kinda messed up their scheduling plans for him. Did your son like it in Groton? I'm ok with him not being home for Thanksgiving and I know I will have to get used to him missing holidays but this first Christmas IDK how I will take it if he's not home.

Hello, I too just found ya'll. My son got to Groton just yesterday. He completed his A school in Ms then he was sent there. We are so excited for him and hope he continues to have a great experience. I however have ?'s how long is sub school and will he have to re-earn all of his liberty? Will he stay there after school and wait for orders or will he be able to come home for Christmas with orders to his sub??? To many questions oh I hope not just really want to see my son soon. He was injured in boot camp and there for over 4mths so seeing him a few hours just hasn't cut it for this mom. Thanks in advance for all the help hope I didn't over do it ;-)

Hi everyone. I just found this group. My sailor has been in Groton since 10/8. I recognize some of you moms from other groups. Hi KathyMmom and Sheila. I love getting to text with my son often. He keeps me posted on things he is learning. He went to Mystic yesterday with Kathy's son. He said it is a small town nearby with not a lot to do. His rating is radioman, which he wanted, so I am happy for him. I am anxious for him to come home at Christmas. I can't wait to see him.

Thanks tackijacky, I appreciate the information. I am new to all of this. That is what is great about this site. There are no dumb questions. I am happy that someone who has been there and done that can give advice to those of us just starting out. I haven't met anyone here who is not helpful and kind. Thanks again. I am sure I will have more questions as time goes on.
