That's a good question Diana!  My son is there too.  I was going to talk to him about getting a bunch of Sailors together and sending them some goodies but it would be neat to know if there are other options available to them.

Sorry if this has already been asked. My son's PIR is next Friday and he will be going to Groton for Sub School.  My question is do they do anything like Adopt A Sailor there for the Sailors who don't have family around for Thanksgiving??

My son is officially in Groton after waiting on hold for three weeks. I don't know what kind of training or anything awaits him, still waiting on the text or call that he checked in, he left at 5:00 am this morning. I know I will have questions to follow..I appreciate the words and advice from seasoned pros!

tacki - oh how I would love to go, my son's birthday is 10/29. He actually just arrived in Groton today (after being on hold for 3 weeks in VA). Enjoy your son's birthday :)

Any moms gonna be in Groton around Oct 28th?  I will be going to Groton to surprise my son for his bday, and would like to meet up with other Navy Moms.  He will be in A school during the early morning until noon, then we will be able to spend time together.  This will be my 2nd trip to Groton, and really looking forward to it.

Hello everyone.  My grandson just graduated TCNO on Thursday and hoped that he was going to get to come home on leave before he starts A school for ST, but now it doesn't look that is going to happen.  Hasn't got approved yet and want to come home on Monday.  Too short of a notice to get a flight.  :(  We are all very sad as we have not seen him since PIR in the beginning of May
