Cheri  -  Something with the computers in the sub.  On Sept 7th he goes to Phoenix for the swearing in, sign papers and get his rating(job).  So we have a couple of weeks to wait.  It looks like he may not go in till February, he is very anxious and wants to go as soon as possible.

My grandson is in Groton and has been there since May, we miss him a lot but he likes it there and is waiting to do his TECNO school next.  He will probably be there close to a year with all the schooling he is going to be a Sonar Tech.  So far he says the school has not been too tough he gets bored and then that usually leads to being homesick.  We talk to him often via text or a regular old phone call.  The other day we chatted with him via Skype that was so cool to see him and talk at the same time.  He looks great and is still very proud of the decision he made to become a ST.

Now  I have another grandson signing up for the Navy he goes to get sworn in on Sept 7,8th  he will also be going into the subs.  How exciting to have two grandsons in the Navy

Hi ladies, I'm also a new sub mom.  My son arrived on the 13th and starts sub school next monday.  He is really enjoying the change in pace and likes his room mates.

I so love this site.  It's nice to know that maybe my son is not the only one who doesn't check in enough.  For the new moms.... my son has been in Groton since Oct of 2010. He has completed BESS, ATT and A school.  He is coming home on Saturday (yeah) for 13 days and then starts C school Sept 29th.  He REALLY has enjoyed Groton.  I remember his first response after the 1st week was it was so much more layed back.  I recommend video Skype.  I just love to see him (and his room mates)
