Hi everyone..new sub mom here..My son arrived in groton very early (like 1am) on sunday. He is so happy and ready to get started with schooling. He will start next week as he is waiting for the class to fill up. He says his room is very comfortable and his room mate is cool. PIR was amazing on friday but I am excited for him to get started on this next portion of his journey.

I won't be able to go to BESS this Friday--but if you see my son (the one in plaid shorts--Josh) give him a hug from me!  He said he will start ATT the next week--but we all know that could be delayed.  He was originally told it would be three weeks, but now he said it's a few days.  He was told he would go to Georgia or Washington for A school.  He's hoping for Washington, as he's missing home more than he thought he would.  I can't remember what his job initials are--they're different for subs than ship-side--even though they can be doing the same thing.

I think my son is going to Norfolk.  There is a new sub being built so he would be on the maiden voyage!  He actually wanted Groton but Norfolk is fine.  At least it is on the east coast!

Attention please Never ever use BBG Communications (Luxemburg) while traveling internationally this company is a rip off... more importantly don't use your debit/credit card to pay for it they charge like $50 a minute!! I'm not kidding on top of that they charge you several times even if you made one call. This company is found at airport on pay phones.

Twin Falls Navy Mom.....that why he is doing C school, his job.  The only thing I never hear of somebody receiving his order so early, but anything is possible in the Navy.  LOL  Well don't lose your hope a lot of thing can happen in 4 months, keep praying that they change him back and if not look it this way, everything happen for a reason even that at the moment we don't see it.  One good thing is that in GA  all they have are boomers and they go 3 months at the time.

Hi, All, I live in Washington and hope someday my "sub" son will be stationed at Bangor. My older son is stationed in Hawaii aboard the USS O'Kane (ship-side). I just found out my nephew and his family will be stationed at Groton for the next three years. I'm glad my son will have family near when we live so far away.

Twin Falls Navy Mom...I know what you mean about the lingo--or should I say acroynms? I feel like my sons can speak for five minutes without ever saying a word. ;-)

Rose7.... My son is a Radioman.  He graduated from GL bootcamp in Oct 2010.  He has been in Groton ever since.  He starts C school the end of Sept for another 4 months.  I am still learning the lingo.  I'm guessing he is still in school because of his job.  I know a few new Navy recruits from our area that were sent out onto their ship within weeks of graduation bootcamp.  I feel like there was so much info on this site for bootcamp but not much information on the Navy thereafter and what to expect.  I'm just missing my son (he is the 1st to leave home) and was so sad when they changed him from WA to GA.  We live in Idaho so WA is soooo much closer.  Thanks for the response.
