janh:  Yep, my son is not in a good frame of mind tonight.  They've also been having 3 hour study sessions each night.  He made a 98 on his last quiz; do they expect 100s??????  He's really angry and frustrated at the punishment.  Thank God there's only 2-1/2 weeks left!!!  He also told us he gets his blue card if he passes this test.  That's super important to him cause my other son and my SA's girlfriend are flying there next weekend to spend time with him.  He's pretty much counting on that blue card to be able to spend more time with them.  I hope and pray it all works out!

I'm so happy that you're going on the 29th.  I wish I could make the trip too.  I'm hoping to see my son around Christmas.  I miss him so much!  I was trying to remember what it was like having him home and it's hard to remember :(  That just makes me sad.  But I am happy for him that he's making his own way in the world and working towards being a successful military man!  That's something any mother could be proud of!!!!!!!

Thanks Janh and Rose for the info on the "codes"  I am still learning.  So after BESS they go to ATT and TCNO before their A School and then on to C school, biy our sub boys have a lot of learning to do but I am so very proud of them.

Janh - I am happy for you going all that way to CT, I wish I could be there this Friday for my grandson BESS graduation  I am in Arizona and just xan't make it.

ATT = Apprenticeship Technical Training
TCNO = Tactical Computer Network Operations

ProudNavyMom: My son has been having the 9:30 muster too. He says there are couple team members messing them up. Also said if he passes test tomorrow he gets overnight (blue?) liberty. Two weeks from tomorrow we are heading out from CA to CT for BESS grad.

Nana....questions are never dumb.  We all learning as we go.  ATT is for Advanced Technical Training.  TECNO I don't know for what, so far I see three spellings TECNO, TCNO and TECHNO.  I used TECNO, may be is wrong too. LOL  Anyway is just another part of the training.  I know my son told me but too many terms, I'm learning as I go and other may be never will learn 100%. LOL   Nice that my name remind you somebody sweet.

Rose  thanks for the info but I have to ask a dumb question   What is ATT and TECNO?   And by the way my grandmothers name was Rose so is it special to me.

Cheri: Thanks again for the info.  I thought it may have something to do with them testing to see how quick to anger the SAs are.  Last thing you need on a sub is a loose cannon!  I'm high strung too so I know what you mean about that ;) LOL.  I'm just hoping and praying that he can hold on the rest of his time there; I really think things will get better once he's in ATT and TECNO.  If it really is self-paced this liberty issue hopefully will no longer be an issue.  Again I thank you for the information.

Nana...if your grandson finish BESS this Friday, like Cheri mention you don't know when things start until a two or three days before.  But your grandson still have to go through ATT, TECNO and then A school.  He still have around two months (depends on holds) to start A school.

Colleen....enjoy BESS, is soooo nice!!!

My son graduated BESS on 6/3, and while we were visiting over the 4th of July weekend, he called me Tuesday morning (7/5) and told me he was starting ATT school that evening at 230, he found out that morning.  So no notice really given.  I love the town of Mystic...takes you longer to find a parking spot in Mystic then it takes you to get there from the base.  You must try out Mystic Pizza, and then there is a ice cream shop right down from it by the bridge that is awesome.  It is on the same side of the road is Mystic Pizza.  Just loved the town, will go back when it is not a holiday weekend, and maybe just a little cooler, but it is a must see place.

Hi Colleen, Mystic is only ten minutes from base off of 95 north!  BESS graduation is always on a Friday.  It is a wonderful ceremony!  Small & easy to take lots of pictures!  Your son must meet you at the gate to get on base.  You need a parking permit also.  Enjoy the graduation!
