@ Janh - we spent the week/weekend in Groton. We stayed at the Navy Lodge. Very clean and very close to base. I will be staying there again when we go for "A" school graduation and highly recommend.

Hi Janh,

I just came from Groton, I was visiting for the holiday weekend.  We stayed at the Best Western Hotel on route 12 it's about a mile from base. We enjoyed our stay there.

My son graduated basic training on March 25th. Since being in Groton, he's been through at least one other graduation. Getting information out of him is like pulling teeth without anesthetic. He has a degree and rates as an MM.

janh....we are currently at the Ramada Inn in Groton off of Kings Hwy, it is very quiet, sits back off the road, we are in a King room (which seems very small, when we put in 3 adults and a child) but they give a discount if you stay 3 or more days...they have an indoors pool with hot tub. My Sailor forgot to bring something with him and drove back to the base and back to the hotel in less than 30 minutes.  They also offer a nice continental breakfast...no complaints....I would stay here again with double beds in the room tho...

Anyone have a recommendation for a hotel in New London? We are coming from CA for BESS grad on 7/29. It would be nice to have an extra bed in case our son wants to spend the night. Thanks

LorieS....I agree with you!!  Don't go crazy, what is important for us is nothing for them.  Today in our way to the park I said to my son "I think in general I know more than you" He said mom you take it too seriously" What is that?  Grr It hurt but well....boys and on top growing.  So dress your self of patience.  LOL

Angie....I agree.  Glad you enjoyed it (BESS)!!!

We had a good day.  Funny because my sailor look all he want to do is eat.  He said "Mom I did more exercise during the week because I knew I will gain a few pounds this weekend, ja, ja.  He is been eating all he can't eat when we are not here.  We went to MA just to get one of his favorites pizza.  He group up (all my kids born in MA) eating this pizza.  We went shopping......and tomorrow if weather good we are going to a park in New Hampshire.  I love that boy, even that for minutes he drives me crazy.  They forgot that they still our babies!!!!

Hi ladies...I came (and am still here) to Groton for graduation on June 30th. If at all possible, I strongly recommend that you attend. As was stated before, they actually stop the ceremony and let you take pictures.  It was an amazing ceremony!! My son had duty the same night as graduation and couldn't stay with us that night but we have had him ever since. I feel like a mom of a newborn...I love just watching him sleep!! I think he is getting tired of my telling him how much I love him.  I have met some of his friends and toured the U.S.S. Nautilus (not quite sure of the spelling). I would not trade this weekend for anything. I am one PROUD mama!!!!!
