jimscupcake - Oh joy...my son, C, is 20 so I'm sure he will find the casino :)
MM89Beth - C seems to like it so far. He said that it was really nice and that the people were nice. That eases my mind. He is the kind of person that never meets a stranger so that is a huge plus for him.
Leslieo and MM - C has already gotten two addresses, one which is the one with a building number and the other one is a PO Box. I overnighted his TV and Xbox yesterday and he received them today.
He arrived Saturday but has already started "school". Is this BESS or is this some type of processing they have to go through before they start?
Thanks for all of your help!!
My son's PIR was 4/15 & he has no address yet either.
Don't worry, apparently it has not been a top priority but should happen soon.
I sent a box to my son's room-mate & that worked out fine :)
Hi Angie,
My son is an MM too!
He started class last week, loves the base and all the friendly people :)
Thanks everybody for the help...he is scheduled to graduate 6/10, we will be there for his BESS graduation, we are driving his car up to him from Houston, TX and then flying home. His MOS is Navagation Electronic Tech...how long is A school for that? Anybody know? He told me it would be a about a year before he could come home, because of the length of time between schools, and still having 3 more to get thru...so I dont know. Sometimes we know more here on the outside then they do on the inside...I wish we lived within 300 miles it would be great, I also have a 3 yr old this is missing his bubba thats in the "Naby"...he is excited about going to see him in June.
Janlee - yes, it took me a while but I did come around. lol I love my kids (all adults) more than life itself and will support them in whatever decision they make. Sometimes it just takes me a while.
As far as his rate, I was wrong. He is a Submarine Machinist Mate. Does anyone have any information for this they would like to share? I really appreciate it.
tackyjacky---ATT and TCNO are technology schools. They are both 4 weeks long.
We didnt throw my son a party before he went to BC either, we wanted to, but he went in earlier than he was supposed to.He was able to get a weeks leave after BESS, and on his way home..he was texting his friends to get ready to have a bonfire at our house that night (after a 9 hour drive....lol). Before he flew back to Groton..he said he may not be able to come home again until the holidays...so maybe they get leave then??? Not sure (never sure..lol). Also...you are able to visit him while hes there at BESS. Once he has his blue liberty card..(takes a few weeks after arriving) he is allowed to take the weekend off base. If you live closer than 300 miles from base..he is also allowed to come home on weekends. Just a heads up in case he falls in that category.
