Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My name is Norman and I am a LCPL in the Marine Corps. I am
currently on deployment and I have received this really nice pillow case. I
just wanted to say thank you for the pillow case and thank you for thinking
of us. It does get lonely out here sometimes and we love receiving gifts
from people back in the states. This made me smile and put me in a good mood
when I was handed this pillow case. Once again thank you for the gift

Hello, my name is Scott. I am a Major in the Marine Corps currently
deployed aboard the USS Essex. I was lucky enough to have received one of
your wonderful pillowcases and I just wanted to say thanks!
The Essex Amphibious Ready Group is deployed with the 15th Marine
Expeditionary Unit (MEU) and we are currently in the Middle East helping the
people of this region.
Polka Dottie Quilters...I got a GREAT pillowcase with toy, monster trucks
all over it. It's wonderfully soft and definitely makes my bed (or "rack")
more comfortable. Mary Lee, Andrea, Dottie, Vivian, Karen, Patty &
Brenda...thank you so much!!

Ladies,
I am LCDR Jill a surgical nurse currently stationed onboard the USS ESSEX, deployed to the Middle East. We recently received numerous packages filled with wonderful pillowcases from your organization!
What a delightful surprise to have opened all the boxes to see the wide array of colors and patterns with each pillowcase! And even more encouraging and supporting was the amount of care, love and prayers sent along with these!
I wish I could send you pictures of the looks on the sailors' and marines' faces when they picked out their own personal pillowcase - there were countless smiles and numerous stories about why he or she picked the specific pillowcase - it may have brought back childhood memories, favorite characters, or, as in my case, my favorite flower (daisy).
I'm not certain if your organization is nation-wide, or a local group. According to the slip of paper attached to my pillowcase (as with many others), it came from the Polka Dottie Quilters from Burlington, Washington - and was made by Mary Lee, Andrea, Dottie, Vivian, Karen, Patty, & Brenda. Ladies, I want to send my most heartfelt THANK YOU to you all, for giving us each a little piece of home and love to get us through our deployment.

Love this note cause I sent the pc. AND Jean was my boss and once she retired she started
sewing for HAE!
Heads at Ease,
Thank you for the awesome Arizona Cardinals pillowcase! It was sewn by Jean
from Tucson and is perfect! I'm an Arizona native, a University of
Arizona grad, and a Cardinals season ticket holder. This pillowcase will
take a little bit of the sting out from missing their games this year.
Thanks for all the service members who've got to enjoy these thoughtful
gifts.

What a cool job has!
Today I selected a very nice pillow case made by Sandy B (please
forgive me if I messed your name up) from dozens available to fellow crew
members here on the USS Essex. They all looked so very nice and everyone
was very happy to get something home-made from the USA. When I was on
active duty during the Viet Nam war, I was on a submarine and experienced
nothing like this at all.
Obviously, I'm no longer in the Navy, but took this job for one last
adventure and to serve our country once again. My job is to keep all the
printers, copiers, scanners, and related equipment running. The Essex is a
small city, and there are over 250 machines to take care of and supplied.
Printing is an important commodity... especially since carbon paper has
been out of date for dozens of years (that's what I used to type multiple
copies of radio messages). I've integrated quite well with the crew, and
am glad I'm supporting them in a small way.
We're currently in the Persian Gulf where it's very warm. It's nice to
have email as a way to stay in touch with home.
Thank you again Sandy. I sincerely appreciate the effort.

this came to me at the end of August! To say that I am behind is an understatement!
I subscribe to a service online where I get email alerts anytime the Essex is mentioned in the news, and your story popped up! Here is the link:Another navy mom from the Essex posted this in one of our closed Facebook groups, I thought you'd appreciate the feedback:"A group called "Heads At Ease" just finished sending all of our sailors pillowcases that were made by different women across the country. They choose a ship and make sure they send one to every sailor. Then they start on the next ship. My son got one with snowflakes and said he needed to be reminded of snow!! LOL. It is so nice that there are groups out there that remember our sailors!!! Thank you "Heads at Ease!"
