So, I have a kid on the CW... They just came off deployment and will have 2 weeks in April for leave. My son put in for his 2 weeks the last 2 weeks of April. SO, we decided to travel to Japan to see him. We bought airfare for 4 people and rented an apartment.. We were suppose to leave in 9 days!

BUT, he just texted to say that they are sending him to California for school the exact 2 weeks we are going to be there to see him!!! We are not sure we can even change our tickets and the apartment on this short of notice! He said they won't let him change the school date... I am SO UPSET! We have spent thousands on those tickets and will probably spent thousands more (that we really don't have) To try to change the flight!

We have not seen him in 2 years and there is no WAY we are going to Japan if we can't see our son!  Has this happened to anyone else?? What did you do??? I am just freaking out here! I am so mad at the Navy!!!

Yes, I believe it was. He said that it was approved when he gave us the dates we could plan on coming to see him. So, thats when we booked our flights.

I'm so sorry

I am sorry this happened, but that's the thing with leave, it can be rescinded.  Whenever I was on leave, I didn't feel safe until I was on a plane and headed away from my command.  I hope you can rearrange your visit without too much pain.

It just makes me so sad. We are trying to rearrange.

I would plead your case with the airline.  Ask for a supervisor.  Maybe your sailor can send you proof that his leave was changed.  If you talk to enough people, you may find someone with a sympathetic ear .

Were you able to get things situated?  Hope you get to see your sailor soon.  When me and my son discuss visiting he advises to wait till last possible second to book - for this reason.  I am so sorry! Heart aches knowing we have to wait one, two, three years to get to visit our sailors. My boy has been over in Japan since August 2015 - he's hoping some time next year we'll get to visit.

I HAVE NOT HAD THE EXPERIENCE BUT YES THEY DO CHANGE THINGS AT THE LAST MINUTE LIKE I BEEN TOLD IT IS LIFE THAT DOESNT MAKE IT EASIER ON US WHOM ARE LONGING TO SEE OUR SONS OR DAUGHTER THAT HAVS BEEN GONE A LONG TIME.I PRAY ALL GETS WORKED OUT SO YOU CAN GO SEE HIM

Did you ever get things worked out? My son is on the CW too and we are planning on visiting him in the beginning of August. Got airline tix but having a difficult time for hotel reservations.

I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR THIS I KNOW IT WAS POSTED AWHILE BACK I HOPE YOU GOT TO VISIT YOUR SON MY SON IS DEPLOYED AGAIN BUT HE SAID IT WILL BE 2017 B4 WE CAN MAKE A TRIP OVER FRO REASON HE COULDNT SAY SO WE WILL WAIT N PRAY GOD WILL FIND A WAY HE WILL GET LEAVE SOON TO COME HOME WHEN HE GETS BACK TO BASE
