As this time is fast approaching, I am trying everything to spend time with my son...I will be sad but I know as a mom this is the best thing for him.  He is excited to leave our little town...I guess my fear is that he will not write us or keep us in touch with what he is doing...he has always been a reserved type of guy...

I will miss my son sooooo much!!

I can relate, my daughter is scheduled to leave Nov 18th.  She is my only child and we are very close.  As the days slip by and we get things more prepared for her to go, I couldn't be more proud but also noticing a little heavier sadness.  My guess is once they have time and are allowed to make contact they will.  Hold on and know you are not alone.

Son Leaves November 25th.  Found out about 3 hours ago.  Guessing this means early Thanksgiving and early Christmas...lol

My son also leaves on the 25th, we're celebrating Thanksgiving early!

My son also leaves from Houston area on the 25th.  Thanksgiving will be the 22nd.

Well we can lean on each other, I am already becoming emotional when I just think about it...I know it will be okay...I will just buy lots of Kleenex LOL

My daughter leaves the 5th. I am a bit nervous, excited .........but happy for her. I am waiting for the recruiter to let us know exactly what to expect and when; I know we have to drop her off at the office and they deliver her up to the hotel, then the next day we go up for swearing in...

My son leaves on the 24th and gets to GL on the 25th. Can't believe its two weeks away. He is ready to go but I'm sad but excited for him. We are having as much family time as we can. We are also having Thanksgiving on the 22nd so he gets to have his turkey and rib roast! I'm proud of him and know he will succeed. But I will still miss having him home! Oh and I'm not expecting him to write. Besides not having any time - my son is not one to write letters!! I'll just look forward to the few allowed phone calls.

My son has been in big demand these last couple of weeks. Grandparents, girl friend and of course his friends.

I had him yesterday morning for a time at work where we had a patriotic ceremony for Veteran's Day. We were both recognized. We hugged all through the song, "Proud to be an American". I will hold this memory forever.

My son leaves on the 24th as well. I have the same fears, as he has always been reserved and quite independent. He is still a very sensitive, sweet boy. I think this is going to be harder than I thought. I have to work and will say my goodbyes before going into work on Sunday, as he will be going to the hotel first. I have pictures of him swearing in when he first signed up, so I will not be going to MEPS with him as I have heard you don't get to spend much time with them anyway. Ugh..

My son leaves on the 23rd.   He will be starting the 24th.  I was so strong for months, but the past 24 hours I am crying so much. I a so proud of him, but so sad I wont get to see him for so long.

How are you guys doing?  We received our letter this past Saturday with his graduation date!! I immediately wrote a letter back...I miss him and his room seems so empty.  But on the bright side, he graduates next month and I couldn't be prouder!!
