My son, Hunter started Wednesday  September 5th. Anyone else? And what have they signed up to do at A school? Hunter has signed up for Hospital Corpsman

Hi Huntersmom,

My son was dropped off at his recruiter's office on 9/5 and on 9/6 took his oath and we watched him board the plane for GL.  My son is also signed up for Hospital Corpsman and would like to pursue the Fleet Marine Force as a Combat Medic.  His recruiter called and told us he was in Ship 12/Div 362.  How are you holding up?  I cried terribly the day before he was dropped off and did remarkably well at his oath and when he boarded the plane.  I have been keeping myself busy and focused on the graduation but this evening, the floodgates opened again.  I guess it will be like this over the next few weeks.  The house is just so different with him not home.  Keep me posted on how you are doing.  Hopefully, they will be in the same ship/div.

My son wants to do that same thing! Hospital Cor to do the Marine combat! Thats neat that they are both interested although it does scare me too!

I havent heard from him there yet, just when he got off the plane there he called. So  you already know information to him? Our recruiter here is so busy alone that I dont know if its a good thing to call and ask for a few days anyway! Im holding up ok, I was actually ok at the swear in ceremony too! I felt to proud of him to cry! Just him going to get on the plane was hard! I went to grocery store today and many times I was thinking, what he likes then I would realize! Have you done that/ Such a life change for him and me! Do you worry about things like, wonder if he likes the food or if he is eating!!?? Hey thats what us Moms do!

Im so happy to know other people who experience all of this! Very helpfull in all ways!

I will chat soon!

I WAS doing well until I went to the grocery store on Sunday.  Every week, I would buy salsa and shredded taco cheese for my son.  As I walked down the aisle, I realized I didn't have to buy any this week.  I cried all the way home!  My husband thought something terrible happened when I walked in the back door.  When he found out it was over salsa and shredded cheese, he busted out laughing!  Some men just don't get it, lol.  When I arrived home this evening, there on the rocking chair on the front porch, was the box.  Lost it again and couldn't wait to smell his shirt!  Everything came back except his wallet.  No notes or letter :( .  Guess I will have to wait a few more days.

I think it is wonderful that your son wants to do the same as my son.  It scares me to death and am secretly hoping he will like dentistry better, lol.  I hope the will be able to hook up together.  If not in boot camp, then in A school in San Antonio, TX.  I see you are from Luftkin . . . .I believe my cousin lives there too.  He told me that he is a few hours from San Antonio and hopes we can meet up when we go and visit our son.

Very happy to hook up with a Hospital Corpsman Mom!

My son too will be hospital corpsman, maybe they will all be in same division, he left from Tampa Tuesday. I got a brief phone call yesterday did either of you? It was so good to hear his voice if only for a minute.

I got the box today and cried a little but I know he is where he wants to be so I am happy for him. His recruiter told me he would call me this week to let me know his address. I don't even know what division he is in yet.

I dont know his either, I havent got his box either....I may try his recruiter tomorrow

My son's recruiter came through for me today and got his ship/div and address for me. Can't wait to start sending the letters.
