my son just arrived at Tinker.  VQ-4.  Any info/tips about the  base?  He's not seen many people around,  on leave for the holidays I guess...

My son just got his orders and will be going to Tinker soon.  He is currently in Jacksonville, FL.  We are in PA and don't know anything about Oklahoma.  We are very excited for this new chapter in his Navy career.  Can't wait to find out more about what he'll be doing.  He is in the Navy and will be with VQ-4.

Thank you so much for responding. I was very surprised to hear my sailor was going to a base no where near the water. We live on the East Coast and love the ocean! What's the weather like there?

My fiancé is currently stationed there, too with VQ-3.

My husband is currently stationed at Tinker.  I can answer any questions that you might have.

My son has been there for about 6 months, better than anywhere else he says, you get your own barracks room with a queen size bed "unheard of" he says, however you do share a bathroom with a roommate on the other side, get a room inspection once a week, plus a free coffee shop across the Parkin lot, bowling alley, mini nex and post office with your own FREE Po box are less than 2 blocks but the hanger or work is about 3 miles from the barracks, so get a car he says, My son is sitting next to me on leave so that's where I'm getting info from,

My son has been there for a year and a half now and I might be able to help with some info. He has lived in the barracks and now off base, but is single so I can't help with any married housing info etc. What company or squadron will he be with and where is his current station?
