Carol Aileen,

We will probably not go as we will be haying (hopefully)  We want to go down and visit in late Aug or Sept.  Its been a long time since I have been down to SC and my husband has never been there.

I did have an offer of a Mom who said that she would take pictures.  Will have to see how it all goes.

Hi E'sMom!  Are you going to get to go to Power School Graduation?  I highly recommend it if you can!   I did not go for A school, but another Mom took photos for me.   I am hoping to go to  Aaron's round 2 power school graduation.

Carol Aileen, That sounds like a wild time.  My son's PIR was 1/10/14.  He is in the Nuke pipline in A school right now.  It has not been as smooth as a mother would like but he is coming around.  When my sailor graduated we did not have much time with him.  Dinner and then to find the nearest B&N as he is a bookworm.  Some visiting and then he had to be back as he had to be on the bus at 3am to fly out at 8.  Made for a short time to see him but it was worth it!

Zacsfan - Corpsman is an excellent choice. Don't forget to write to your sailor.  Mail call is very important.  Just don't expect to get much for letters back as they don't have alot of time to write to you.   Where are you located?  I am in Central MT

Corpsman - that sounds like a good field to go into!   We did not know what Aaron's schedule would be after BC, so we just planned to stay the weekend and then we went took our youngest to DC for a few days and then to PA to visit family.   After PIR the first thing Aaron wanted was a hamburger, so we went and got one and then we went to the Mall... We had an adventure getting there and were up over 24 hours by that time ( Plane hit by lightning,  unable to land in Chicago due to storm,  landing in Indianapolis, plane too damaged to go to Chicago, renting a car at midnight and getting to Great lakes about 2 hours before needing to head to PIR.... whew didn't think we'd make it!!)    so  we didn't last long that first day... next day we went into Chicago ( take the train!!!)  and went to the Museum and aquarium..... lots to see and do!   My son went through the Nuke pipeline, first in South Carolina and then New York, He applied for the STA-21 program  ( enlisted to officer program) and is now just about finished with  college,  getting his degree in nuclear engineering with a minor in economics.   He will then head back to South Carolina and go back through the Nuke pipeline but this time on the officer side.

He is going to be corpsman. Did your son leave great lakes after graduation? I think mine leaves the day after for Texas. What did you guys do with him while you had him?

Hi zacsfan! Welcome to the group! I'm in the Missoula area and my son had been in 5 years now. He has taken a slightly different route, he enlisted and then got selected for an officer program. He gets commissioned next month ! What will your son be doing in the Navy?
