My son's PIR is 9 May, then he heads to Goose Creek for A School. I'm looking to connect with any other moms out there who have a sailor doing (or has recently done) the same.

Hi Ironmom3 - my husband graduates on 6/6 and then we will be heading to Goose Creek to start the Nuke School adventure :]

My son is about to finish his first "semester" there.  It's been an interesting journey!

What should we newbies know before ours go?!

Hi Ironmom3,

My son's PIR was March 28th.  He just started A school 3 weeks ago.

Congratulations! How's it going?
My son's PIR is 5/30 and he heads to GC 6/1. It sounds like it's going to be intense schooling.

My daughter's PIR is also 5/30 and will be heading to Goose Creek that weekend.

My son's PIR is 05/16/14 and he will be heading to Nuke school the next day.

My son PIR is 5-30 and he will head to A-School SC the next day. I hope they can all travel together and work together as study partners.

The friendships you forge at this website can be a blessing for your navy son or daughter.  I've already had one Navy mom include my son for a family dinner when she went to visit her son.  I can't thank her enough for doing that.  I hope that I can return the favor soon.

Very nice to meet you all!  My son was in Div 167.  We found out at graduation that he would not ship out to Goose Creek the next day as scheduled.  He has been moved to Ship 5, the THU pending medical clearance for proteinuria, of all things. He is very frustrated. It's like Navy purgatory!

I wonder how often this A school starts, and where he will fit back in. Waiting, waiting, waiting...

Wow! I can't believe that! I guess he had protein in his urine? I hope it's not a sign of diabetes.

My son is still at Great Lakes - he's ship 14, div 207. I think he should graduate around July 4 - ish (if all goes well... and no proteinuria...)

Hopefully, your son will get out of 'Navy purgatory' soon and be on to Goose Creek! I'll be thinking of you and your son!
