For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Comment by NAVY-em's_Mom on April 27, 2013 at 10:10pm: When I talked to my son today, I asked him if he was eating poptarts or going to the galley for breakfast. He said there was no need, that the galley has 'breakfast to go'. He said they have premade boxes that they can pick up that has boxed cereal, milk, juice, nuts and some kind of granola bars. He said that lunch has to be eaten there, but they also have 'supper to go' which are boxed suppers.

Comment by proudmom63 on April 25, 2013 at 11:59pm: CONGRATS to the new sailors AND their families! 1proudmama... your son will join this proudmom63 's son, if heading to goose creek! it is so nice to be able to have phone chats with him whenever he is free.... much more often than BC! my son's PIR was 4/5/13 so your son isn't too far behind. maybe they will be in same power school OR prototype!! CONGRATS again!

It was soooo good to hear his voice, and I am soooo thankful for our technology that allows things like email and phone calls.

Comment by Mark on April 24, 2013 at 1:28pm: Your son is right, NF Mom - a lot depends on current manning on the boat. If your son were underway on the boat, he could be qualified to stand a watch in a matter of days, and if an additional watchstander can help in an area where they are short, they'll probably try. Timing is everything with that though. My son flew to Pearl to meet his boat (a boomer) shortly after reporting with two others, who I think were already part of the crew. The timing ended up being wrong, and they flew back a day or two later.
