"We" PIR Friday, then grad and go.  What stuff will he need in Goose Creek?  Do they need linens?  I packed a bowl, cup and plastic cutlery (not sure about flying with a butter knife).  Really want to make sure that backpack is crammed full!

Thanks!

I posted the website above from which any active duty military person, their family and US Citizens abroad can register to vote and request an absentee ballot.  It's available to anyone who has an internet connection. For those in installations without regular internet access there is also a printed postcard that they can mail to register and request a ballot.  I helped my daughter get her ballot and it's pretty easy and straight forward.  If your sailor has difficulty with it I am sure there are others who can help him get his ballot.

I've found the group to be supportive and informative.  Not all of us share the same political views so I'd really hate to see that purpose disrupted. We all want sufficient military funding for the defense and for our sailors so I think the best approach is to focus on that goal.

How  very  sad  about  those  two  sailors-  they  had  just  graduated  from  power  school  on  the  14th.  Their  poor  families!

My son just moved up to New York this weekend for Prototype and was told by his new landlord that 2 navy sailors were killed in a car accident on Friday.  Lets keep their families in our prayers.  Here's a link to the article:

It is not difficult for military personnel to vote absentee and they sometimes have advantages to register and vote.  Information on military voting can be found on this national website:

http://www.fvap.gov/

You do have to register to vote and request an absentee ballot and every state and county has slightly different processes. But no one who wants to vote is prevented from doing so.

Amen Navtknit, yes they have a choice but they should also get a chance. They fight for our voice. Shouldn't we fight for theirs? I raised my right hand too many years ago and I had a better chance than my son does now.

When I lived in Australia there was a fine if you didnt vote  It wasnt much but it sure got out the vote.  I'm going to make sure my sailor has a chance to vote.  If we all do it SHOULD make a difference.

William  your response  surprises me considering  how many  military have given  their  lives  to  perserve  our  right  to  vote.I  remember what I  was  taught  in school "If  you  don't  vote, you  have  no right  to  complain"
