No  he  didn't  find  a  roommate.  He  rented a 1 bedroom.   I  think  Walmart  is  going  to  be  his  interior  decorator. Checking  out Atlantic Palms and  Channel  at  Bowen seem  very  similar  in  what  they offer.  Not  sure  about  the  rent  though.  He  got  the  only 1 bedroom available  for  rent  which  he   can  move  in on  Sept  1. My  husband and  I  may  go  up  on  the  first for  a weekend  to   help  him settle in and  see the  place.  My husband  said once the  Patriots  start  playing  he  would   find  it  hard  to  go  away  ! Big  Patriot  fan  that  he  is. When  I  checked  out  the  discussion  about  places to  live   around  Goose  Creek,  Atlantic  Palms  seemed  to  be  the  one most  recommended. Funny  I  didn't  see it  on  the  list  when  we  were looking  on  the web..

Betsyleebig...My son leased an apartment at the Atlantic Palms. From the pics, they look pretty nice. The review that I read say they are kind of noisy. I hope that is an exaggeration.  I don't think he knows what class he will be in yet. As it turns out, it was good that he found an apartment so fast because today he found out he has to be out of his room by Thursday. They are going to recarpet his room. He could move into another room and move again by Sept. 21st or he can just go ahead and move out. He doesn't want to move twice so he is just going to concentrate on his new place and move in there. Did your son find a roomate yet?

CindyLou,  where  did  they  find  an  apartment?   My  son  applied for  one   at  The  Channel  of  Bowen. Is  your  son  in  the  October  class  or  the  one  after  that? My  son   was  assigned to 1204.

Wednesday or Thursday my son found out his is in prefill for prototype in GC and had to be moved out by Sept. 21. By Friday he and a buddy in the same class signed a lease for an apartment. Do you think they are excited to get an apartment? He already bought a new bed and living room furniture and pots and pans.

Betsyleebig, too bad they didn't get a 3 bedroom. They would have had room for another roomate. I am sure he will find others that are in need of roomates too.

All of those that are going to NY are invited to a presentation by a housing specialist and are told everything they need to know about BS and lots of places to stay well in advance of having to head up to BS.  My son had a place to stay about 5-6 weeks ahead of his little jaunt up north.  If they don't attend the meeting ... shame on them.

Comment by Jo1 on August 19, 2012 at 9:36pm

Does anyone know anything about the housing situation for prototype in New York?

Comment by Emily-aaronsgirl11 on August 19, 2012 at 7:26pm

bobbysproudmom- It's not official yet. I'm not sure a lot of people have heard the rumor. But supposedly a few higher ups have been discussing the possibility. I guess some major things were found wrong with the Reagan recently which was supposed to come out of drydock very soon.

Comment by bobbysproudmom on August 19, 2012 at 7:22pm

Emily, I hadn't heard that yet. I sure hope it doesn't get extended. I feel so bad for them. and for you and the rest of us that will be waiting.......waiting......waiting

Comment by susank on August 19, 2012 at 6:46pm
Sorry to hear that Emily. All I can offer is prayers! So I will do just that for the sailors and families of the Stennis! Cyber hugs too!
Comment by Emily-aaronsgirl11 on August 19, 2012 at 6:06pm

The worst ship anybody could get stationed on right now is the Stennis. I'm not even being sarcastic. They're headed out for at least 8 months. Our roommate came home with news today that they're starting talking of extending for 10. Not a fun ship to be on right now. Not at all.
