While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Comment by Emily-aaronsgirl11 on April 16, 2012 at 9:04pm: There's definitely an excuse for not eating healthy in Prototype. It's working 12-14 hour shifts days in a row and using your "weekend" to catch up on sleep/switch your sleep schedule. Only a half hour break for lunch. And barely any time to grocery stop (the commissary is almost always closed when they get off their shifts... trust me, I suggested "swinging by" on the way home from work for several weeks in a row).

They have much less time to eat healthy in Prototype than they do in A, Power School, or the Fleet. Aaron gained a ton of weight in Prototype. But lost 2 pants sizes on his first deployment (and that was only 2 months of working out).

Comment by William in Nashua on April 16, 2012 at 4:42pm: I guess it depends on how well you eat during prototype since you are on BAS and can cook your own meals in your own kitchen. It seems like it all comes under your own control if you buy the groceries and cook or share the cooking. There is not much excuse for not eating healthy at prototype, you can no longer blame it on greasy galley food like you could at power school LOL.

Comment by TN Navy Mom (Stennis Nuke Mom) on April 16, 2012 at 2:45pm: Mine actually gained weight during prototype. he said that one guy in his class gained 40 lbs during prototype!!! I think my sons problem was being starved when he got off of his shift, pigged out then passed out, then did that day after day. He gained about 15 lbs. Now he's home on leave before moving to Washington and mama's cooking is plumping him up a little more. I told him he'd better be careful or he'll be on FEP when he gets to Bremerton!!

NavyMomLG - All I could think of was "oh crap." Of course, as per usual, I'm getting waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay ahead of myself--my son is still waiting to class up for PS. Should (HOPEFULLY) be at the end of May.

I'm headed up to GC Memorial Day weekend to spend time with my son. Could be the last chance we get to spend time together until PS grad...Can't wait to see him again!
