While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Comment by Kat (MM Nuke) on January 7, 2012 at 1:13am: Blackie123-my son bought his own sheets and comforter and pillow as soon as he got to Goose Creek, so yes, they sure can get their own. He eventually got a nice matress pad too, to make that bed a bit more comfortable. I beleive he go them at the NEX the first weekend he got there. I dont' know what color he got though.

I know she is picky about having clean sheets perferably her own (probably comes from all the traveling we've done). In my months of lurking, I know sheets for Aschool have been mentioned. Can she have her own, when can she have them, if so is there a particular color and size? Thanks and I look forward to the months ahead.

I have heard of this in the past that northern cities help the south out but guess we have to get health certificates and such. The problem we have is not having space to keep them safe while transport is worked on.

Comment by mn linda (nuke MM ELT Groton CT) on January 6, 2012 at 7:06pm: navynrocks, I don't know if it is possible, but Animal Humane Society here in Minneapolis gets 70% of their dogs from other shelters around the country -- mainly from down south. maybe they could work out some arrangement to bring some of the dogs up here.

Comment by navynrocks (1201M) on January 6, 2012 at 7:02pm: yup Connie we are an open admissions and EVERYTHING comes in, Horses,Goats,Pigs ugh ,i hate to see it b/c we are so overwhelmed here and not enough rescues coming, I have been involved w/shelter last 4 t years and it has been very hard, i had to back down a bit when i was diagnosed w/breast cancer and had major surgeries but am alwasy thinking of the animals.

We are striving for No Kill but our economy has plummneted since the Space Center-Shuttle program has been taken away. I will never get how We send Man to the Moon here but have a outdated dump of a shelter non-condusive to our homeless animals and staff for that matter ,still kill thousands and thousands here. If you were closer i'd send the farm animals to ya,lol

I pray each day it will get better and we will get more rescues involved and adoptions up, I am also part of the No kill movement so not going to lose hope.

People come in dump there pets b/c they dont match there furniture and im not kidding i have been there on intake and heard it all..

Nancy Jo that is always wonderful to hear stories like yours and coming from my own Rescued Lab-Mastiff i pulled right out of the Kill room these pets make the best family furry members ever and they are truly greatful that you saved there life.

So happy you all love your pets to and do what you can in your community.

Any of you have folks wanting to adopt and they live in Florida send them my way (or rescues lol)

Spent the morning helping my veterinarian castrate a ram, 250 pounds of horny (and I'm not referring to his head) beast. He was a "rescue sheep" that one of our friends took in, only to find that no fence could keep him away from her neighbor's ewes. Never a dull moment when it comes to animals!
