Good afternoon all!!  I don't remember who it was but someone mentioned their son was driving from GC back to Texas or Dallas for Christmas - will you message me and let me know what his plan is.  Mine got confirmation yesterday that he can start booking his travel and I am just trying to explore all my options.  Thanks!!

Dor sounds like your beloved dog was aptly named. Hearing from your sons does make those sad times a little easier to bear.  I'm so sorry for your loss.

Belinda, so glad you chimed in.  Many of us here, from what I gather, will have sailors in the final stages of training.  Your experience could be invaluable to us.  I know there are some of us who have sailors on a vessel already, but I keep thinking that once deployment occurs, the transition might be tough. We might need that voice of experience.

I can't think of a joke Dor but I can send you a hug! I am sorry! Xoxoxox

My son told me 30 days after proto, but some of that will be moving time.  If they have to move cross-country it will take a while.  My son told me proto starts for him Dec 12, so counting down 6 months he will finish in June.  If he gets ELT though that will effect everything.  Planning a wedding might be tough.  I'm kind of in the same boat.  Don't know quite what to do.

Oh, besides answers...N4M has given me friendship, laughter, tears, support...The recruiter failed to mention all those things  :)

Comment by mommajo on November 17, 2011 at 10:22am

I joined May 2010.  The recruiter told me about it when I took my son in for his trip to bootcamp.  The recruiting office is about 120 miles away so that was only the 3rd time we'd met.  He told me N4M would give me answers to all my questions.  He was so right!  :)

Shipped my boxes for the Holiday Project.  This year I will be smarter and start a stash of $ for mailing so it's not a surprise.  I agree sherri, it would be cool to see the sailors getting a Christmas surprise.

My son got married in October, but they want a big wedding.  We are trying to plan, but without knowing when he is going to start prototype, it is tough.  If he starts in February, then they will get married when he is done.  How long do they have after prototype before they have to report to their new location?

I joined N4M's in March 2011, when my son was getting ready to leave for BC.  I knew about the site before that, but I didn't officially join until March.

Time has flown by these past 8 months.  I can now say that he is scheduled to graduate A School tomorrow, Nov. 18th as an EM3!  So excited for him!

MN Mom,  We need to have a meet n greet Thursday evening Dec 1.  I'll be arriving Thursday at 5 am.

My son called & had another final today.  He said there is one more final & then comps.  He's not worried & thinks the next two weeks are going to be easy.

OK Moms, those going to 12/2 Graduation it's time to plan a meet n' greet.  Where should we meet Thursday evening Dec. 1.?
