My son made us eat at Raising Cane after Power School Grad.  Not exactly where I wanted to go.  Mary, there are so many Chinese Food restaurants near base.  They are in every strip mall.  It must be a favorite of many.

My son was singing praises for Raising Cane when we were there, we don't have those in MN. I don't think he eats off base much except for weekends, not because he likes the food on base, but because he is just to frugal!

Wanting to add to the Build-A-Bear pictures.  My daughter gave this to my son for Christmas this year.  His name is JAG.

J's Mom- you know, when my son first got to Goose Creek in November last year, he thought the food was pretty good.  Maybe it is that initial thing after bootcamp where they think it's good, plus not having a car for a while they don't have much choice but to eat on base or at Subway or maybe McDonald's, unless they get a ride to the mall area.  Now that he has his truck there, he just goes out whenever he wants, so it seems to be most of the time.  But in his defense, he has been having some physical therapy sessions in the evening during chow time so he misses chow and has to get something else to eat.  That was happening a lot a couple of weeks ago when his therapy sessions were during the day and he'd miss lunch, so he'd stop at Subway or McDonalds real quick on his way back.  When he was in bootcamp I had heard how good the food was in GC, but according to him that is not the case.  I think part of the problem is that they cook a little healthier than he would like too, a lot of baking instead of frying.  I asked him last night, as he was talking to me while he ordered his chicken strips at Raising Cane's, then stopped at another place for fried mushrooms and a shake, if he could please eat something green every once in a while.  He was like "ahhhhhh, NOPE".  crazy kids.  Just wait.  it will catch up to them.

You know that's true Amanda, I've never gotten a good definition from that box.  I think once over a year ago I did, but that was it.

I just googled slpo and it stands for Section Leading Petty Officer.
Comment by NavyMomLG on July 14, 2011 at 5:51pm

Sorry Connie, I don't remember what the SL means before the Petty Officer.  It's amazing how this little Navy Speak box to the right never returns any results!!!
