Sounds cozy, Emily. I think you need to pack a few more activities in, you're not nearly busy enough. ;) Have fun!

You guys are so busy on here I don't know if I'll ever be able to catch up! I just finished my 8 hour drive home from Missouri. Now to unpack, do laundry, and pack again. We (my mom and I) leave for Washington at 4am on Thursday morning! :/ And apparently we're staying at my brother (and sister-in-law)'s 1 bedroom apartment! Ahhh! It's going to be crowded! haha

William...up to now my son did not have the choice to not eat at the galley.  Now he can keep his pay to eat off base.

Funny about the Windham.

Binker's Mom hasn't replied about the rest of her comment and I rely on you all for info.

CANavyMom somebody was pulling your son's leg I think.  Respectfully, coming to Goose Creek as a former  "recruit petty officer" doesn't mean squat to the A school staff once you graduate boot camp,  Lol. So, it sounds like a whopper.  If you think about it -- all that time they were "recruit petty officers" at boot camp they were not even sailors yet they were still recruits.  Everyone has to start at Stage 1 in A school.

freebirds6819 I concur the Wyndham N. Charleston is a nice hotel one thing to keep in mind it is on the campus of a Christian school and they censor the cable TV Lol.  I am serious.  They do not offer HBO because it is too racy.  I was kind of shocked by that.  Other than that it was great,

Comment by William in Nashua on July 12, 2011 at 6:10pm
Thanks elizabeth77 I stand corrected on that.

CAnavymom - don't believe skipping to phase 2 is possible.  My sailor (last year) was held up in THU waiting for orders to Goose Creek.  He was in THU long enough to phase up there to civvies and extra liberty.  Got to Goose Creek and he had to start all over at Phase 1.
Comment by swim4life on July 12, 2011 at 5:48pm

CAnavymom,

hate to say it, but I don't think that's true.  Sounds like something one of the more experienced sailors/nukes might say to the "new guy" to see if he would believe it.  Guess that does go on a little bit.  They are shipmates, brothers (and sisters) in the Navy.  If in doubt, have him ask a chief or SLPO...someone that will give him factual information.

I have a question for all of you...my son said in his last letter, he was told that since he was on ship staff in BC he would automatically start at Phase 2 in A school. I don't know who told him that...and he just said he hoped it was true. Anyone know??
