Wow...3 hours and 55 pages later, I am finally caught up on what's been going on!!! My last post was 2 weeks ago today. My computer had got majorly hacked and lots of viruses so I had sent it away. UPS man brought it today and I almost hugged him!!

 

A few days after I left the internet world sailor graduated A school. Sadly my camera was refusing to turn on even with new batteries in the car so we had to rely on his mom's iphone all day for pictures and I was unable to take random shots of sailors for people. That afternoon after grad, and after his mom and grandpa left and we went back to my hotel and he fell asleep around 5pm!! He was awake off and on kind of but hardly until about 8am saturday morning! I let him sleep in the extra bed and didnt try to wake him since he said the next day after he woke that he finally was able to "breath and sleep without any worries"

 

We then used his leave time and went to Savannah for 7 days! Rented a house from vacation rentals by owner (vrbo.com) it's a great site because you deal directly with the people and not a 3rd party. We felt like we were taking advantage of the woman because we got such a great deal on it! 7 days of golf, siteseeing, checking out the local pubs, some beach time at tybee island, and the best part...laying on the couch all day watching tv and movies and not having to do anything if we didnt want to. Then we got back to my place on saturday and he hid here until he had to be back today. left last night early enough to avoid any 4th of july drunk idiot traffic for the 2 hour drive to base. Started hold time and has his first 12 hour watch overnight tonight. Poor guy, did breifings today from 7-11 then had watch from i think 1800-0600. He didnt tell me the exact time. It was nice to get away though since he starts power school mid august so it's 6 weeks of little communication and almost no chance for him to visit me.

 

Hope everyone is doing well...too many separate discussions to pipe in on all of them. But I am so happy to be back in the real world with internet access and able to check this site more than 2 weeks at a time! Also hope everyone had a great 4th weekend especially if you got to spend it with your sailor!

Hi everyone, I've been MIA for the past week or so....busy with my last 5 weeks of school and had my sailor in town this past weekend. Trying to get caught up on the pages and pages of reading! Sharon, thinking of you and Diego and good for him for not just letting them crush his dream! To all the new Nuke loved ones, welcome! Also, thank you to Bandito's Mom and Emily for the great info in phase married!

Just started a discussion for the A School Class 1139-A, which started today.  Anyone else have a sailor in the class?

Elizabeth, thanks we are still learning the ropes, this was his first visit home since leaving for boot camp last December.   US Airways offers direct flights from Manchester to Charleston so we used them.

My son was flying Delta and he had to show someone at the airport on the day of departure his duty order change in writing. (Duty order is what I think they called it but I could just be remembering that term because I heard it somewhere else.)  EIther way they wouldn't credit back my credit card until they saw it.  It was a PITA.  It also involved changing plane reservations.

Sharon  if you do go on a carriage tour, if you use Palmetto Carriage Tours and have Diego wear his uniform, then he gets a free ticket.

We booked a flight and then things changed and Alaska Airlines doesn't make active duty military pay the penalty to change. It doesn't hurt to ask any of the airlines.

William, my son learned the hard way that even if you have heard it from your chief don't book a flight unless you have it in writing.  Time of day or date of leave may change if it is verbal but if it is in writing you can "take it to the airport."  :)

I can tell you this, Diego is fighting for his self and I am very proud of him. Not sure how things will work out, but he is truly not a quitter. He should be given more respect for fighting for his job than looked upon differently. Most people just accept things as they are, but we have alwaus taught our children to do what it takes and do it to the best of your ability. He is doing what he can and with prayers he will do well.

 

We are in Goose Creek right now, arrived on Friday and we will be here until Saturday. We are loving every minute here with them and the weather has been wonderful. Hot, but wonderful. We spent all day and evening in Charleston yesterday, will be going back on Thursday. Kevin and I will take a carriage tour around the city while the girls shop. They even have ghost tours, but won't be taking one this time although I would love to. lol

There has been good to be here, give support as well as wisdom. We can't make any decisions for them, but as pa and ma it is always good to be with them! Keep us in prayers please....................we know we have an awesome God!!
