So Mark, could the Widow Maker be RP?
Comment by Emily-aaronsgirl11 on March 8, 2011 at 8:50pm
Btw. Whatever it is, it happens in Power School towards the end. :)
I checked out your profile, torreswife, and it looks like you have a lil while before you have to worry about it. :)
Which rate is your sailor? If he's an EM or an ET, he's exactly one year behind Aaron, and I have a feeling this "hardest test in Power School" Aaron is taking tomorrow is the Widow Maker..
Comment by mn linda (nuke MM ELT Groton CT) on March 8, 2011 at 8:43pm

I asked that question awhile ago and this was the responses -- so I assume for MMs it is the ETMO tests.

Comment by Emily-aaronsgirl11 on January 29, 2011 at 5:45pm

mn linda- The Widow Maker(s) happen in Power School. I asked Aaron which subject, and he says that they call 3 tests the widow maker, and they're the three MERO tests. Aaron took the second one last friday, and I can see why it's one of the widow makers... Almost a whole point under his normal score.

I'm assuming THE "Widow Maker" is mero 3. :)

Comment by Mark on January 29, 2011 at 6:45pm
There must be other tests that they use that term for, because MMs wouldn't even have MERO. MERO="Mechanical Theory for Electrical and Reactor Operators". MM's crossrate class is ETMO, Electrical Theory for Mechanical Operators.

rlyons - He said she would get a new one and not to renew it.....how weird.  Fortunately, it is still valid and she can reup it during A school.  Thanks for your help!

Joint Base Charleston Facebook Page is the most current page.

Naval Weapons Station Facebook Page is the old one.. When the bases joined forces, the joined Facebook pages. It's not really very active though.

US Navy Nuclear Propulsion Facebook Page is the page for the Nuke program in the Navy. Obviously a lot of people there would be able to answer questions.

And this is the page for the Ombudsmen for NNPTC NNPTC Ombudsmen

In my opinion, none of these are near as helpful as N4M Nuke Moms. And none of them are near as active as the RTC Facebook page.. Which is very cool. That's a very recent thing--Wasn't around when Aaron went through last year!

The RTC facebook page was a godsend during bc, does goose creek have one?
Comment by NukeMom/MM/USSMichigan on March 8, 2011 at 6:09pm
Michimom- I made a mental note and thought that your son might be it the same Power School class as mine - 1103?  Am I right?
Comment by Connie foaling-lady (Groton) on March 8, 2011 at 6:05pm

RE: lockbox for important papers ... we gave our son our old small fire-security box
(buy at Kmart, Target etc, not too expensive) for the documents he wants to have with him, incl. a challenge coin he got at A school grad. Of course, it'd be easy to steal, just pick up and go with the box, but the guys need something to store stuff like checkbooks.

RE: sending cash ... I stick the occasional $10 or $20 in an envelope and say lunch or dinner is on me ... with a reminder that when I am old and living on cans of cat food, he darn well better send me the occasional $50 or $100!! If/when he becomes a civilian nuke with a six-figure salary, it's gonna be, "Who's your momma?!"

Comment by Michimom (MM Nuke Mom) on March 8, 2011 at 5:44pm

MichPad, yes, the best part of your sailor being out of BC is being able to communicate.

amanda, that's what I've done with cookies:  a Ziploc container and bar cookies and brownies.
